Glad to hear your back on your project! Congrats on your 8.5 score and the pedals look great!! The hydroboost is something i have been tossing around for now especially if my t56 master cylinder interferes with the brake booster.. Your GP is gonna be a badass!!

Let's hope so! I have a ways to go yet.

$350? There he is officer, that's the guy who STOLE that 8.5" rear! SCORE!

The guy I bought it from knew it was an 8.5" and thought it was a one legger. He found the G87 code for the 8.5" axle, but missed the G80 for limited slip possibly. I can tell it's been open before because there's blue RTV on it. Maybe someone changed it, who knows? I was going to buy it just because it was an 8.5" when I saw his ad for parting out the car. I got there to help pull the rear end, saw the limited slip tag and I was floored! Spun the pinion and each axle to make sure I wasn't dreaming and couldn't believe the deal I found! It's about damned time I catch a break LOL! Moral of the story....always spin the axles or pinion to know what you have instead of relying on an RPO code.

Pulled the cover today to take a peek and it still has the 3.73's too (41 teeth on the ring gear).

That was a great score on that rear end. If you ever have the need for new clutch packs Eaton does not sell them but there are guys who are making aftermarket clutch packs. Eaton has changed owners a few times so all the stock was depleted but surprisingly I can still get OEM clutch packs for my 8.2 Eaton

Originals or repo's? Honestly I've seen so many overpriced originals that were cracked I gave up looking. Plus the repo's have subtle improvements.

They're actually originals although I hoped they would have been aftermarket just for that reason. They look good from the picture I saw, have new studs, no cracks or pitting according to the owner, and they've either been coated or painted. No rust outside or on any of the flanges either.

I can clearly see the 9797072 on the RH manifold so I know they're from a 69 GTO RA 400. He advertised them as just being from a Pontiac 400. I think either he doesn't know what he has or just doesn't care since he only wants $80 for them. All I know is it's better than spending $300-$600 on aftermarket ones or headers right now.

Nice, are those the long branch manifolds?

No, the GTO's are "A" body manifolds and the long branches are "F-B" body. I have 2 sets of those, one '67 and one '68 both originals. $80? Another steal!

We shall see. It's an hour drive so I hope it's worth it.

I forgot to add, the "A" body manifolds also fit the 2nd gen "F" body cars. By then the steering box was in front of the axle so the exhaust could dump straight down. The 1rst gen cars had the steering behind the axle, so the "long branch" manifolds swept rearward to clear it.

Maybe someone didn't follow WC Field's advice- never wisen up a chump! I can hear the idiot caller now, "Why so cheap? They go for HUNDREDS!" Damn that would have been the steal of the century!
