Maybe someone didn't follow WC Field's advice- never wisen up a chump! I can hear the idiot caller now, "Why so cheap? They go for HUNDREDS!" Damn that would have been the steal of the century!

Yeah that's what probably happened. Or someone offered him more than he was going to sell them for to undercut me. It's not like I needed them right now anyway....oh well.

Hey Steve, glad to see you back working on the GP. For your hydroboost conversion, here is a thread I found on a turbo buick forum that gives all the part numbers needed for your swap. Hope it helps.

Thanks Dean. As a matter of fact I had saved that link awhile back! As usual, the ideas are happening faster than the disposable income at the moment.

Talking about ideas every time I look at your car I want to do something with the wheel openings in my GP. I like yours with the flare, on my GP they are just flat.

I came across a set of '02 Blazer spindles/hubs/shields for $40 so I figured...........why not????? I've been eyeballing the cheap brake upgrade for awhile and the price was right. I took them to work, blasted and painted today. I also scored a 3.08 R&P for my 8.5" in case I can't get a 200-4R built any time soon....$12.50, thanks ebay!

Gotta love the steel shot blaster!

Now that's it's finally surpassed 60 degrees here, I finally got back under the car! I'm hoping to have it back on the frame within the next couple of weeks if time allows. I got some more of that KBS Coat and decided to do the floorboards in the galvanized steel color. I prepped the area above the rear wheel wells and painted that today. I'm going to work my way forward and do the area of above the gas tank last. If you're wondering why I didn't go with black it's because I like the increased visibility.

Good score on those blazer spindles. I have been hoping to score a set myself.

I haven't made much progress until lately so here's what's been happening. Currently waiting on my pistons to get finished and my rods to come in. My pistons are forged custom with off-set pins and should yield about 9.3 to 1 CR with the 92cc chambers. They're being made by http://www.dssracing.com/Forged_Pistons_s/5.htm
There's a few other little tricks being incorporated with my ring selection, but I'm not going to elaborate on that until the pistons are done and when I have more information.

The rods are RPM 4340 light weight I-beams. http://www.racingpartsmaximum.com/sae4340ibeam-3.html

Since balancing and the remainder of the crank & rod work are next, I bought some other things. I actually think the damper and flexplate are pretty nice pieces too. The flexplate is about .035 thicker than stock and is powder coated. The damper looks well made too. I feel like the quality is good for the price and I'm not easily impressed! I'll be posting more as the work is done.

BOP viton rear main & one piece oil pan gasket

Pioneer SFI damper

Summit replacement pan, melling oil pump, screen & shaft.

Scat SFI flexplate

That BOP seal is great and all, I'm just not convinced it works in all applications. Check the surface where it rides on your crank, if there are grooves there, it might leak. My aftermarket crank had grooves, I smoothed them out like the instructions say, but I obviously can't and won't go deep enough to get rid of them. I just smoothed them out a little with some 2000 grit. I have a leak on mine and I suspect it's the rear main. Just something to look into a little more carefully, it sucks to have a fresh motor and have an oil leak, especially a rear main.

That sucks to hear that. I'll have to take a look at the crank next time I go to the shop. The other option is the graphite rope seal that Best Gasket makes.
