BTW I haven't checked it yet, but gas mileage sucks!

I imagine it's probably pretty hard to keep your foot out of it too huh
I have a set of 3.08's and a TH-400 I can use, but at 75mph that would put me around 2985 rpm...65mph is unheard of on Chicago expressways so I'm not going to BS myself.

Retaining the 3.73's with a 200-4R would knock that down to 2422rpms. A 3.42 set would knock it down another 200 rpm. I'm trying to incorporate some modern amenities so I can enjoy driving the car when it's done.

Wow! I can't believe I've never actually read your build thread before. This new section is exposing me to stuff I probably wouldn't have otherwise seen. Great job so far. You kept saying early on that you weren't building a show car but there has certainly been a great attention to detail. This is gonna turn out great.

Thanks I appreciate it! I know you had to be bored to look at 33 pages

After owning a bunch of beat to hell g-bodies I really wanted to address several things this time around, especially undercarriage rust! It's been a love/hate relationship and I've almost scrapped the build a few times so far because of the everything going against the grain.

I'm really glad the engine build is almost finalized. I'm jumping through my *ss to set it back on the frame now.

WOw the end result on this build is going to be worth every busted knuckle, drip of sweat and drop of blood keep up the GREAT work GBoDYs UP!!!!

You know how to tell when you're a seasoned mechanic? When you don't bust knuckles or get cuts anymore. I'd like to think it's all in the technique, but gloves and compressed air sure help a hell of a lot!

Guess it's been awhile huh? I've been busy and working my a$$ off. Good news is that there's some updates coming. The 8.5" is freshened up and painted, I picked up a BQ 200-4R recently and my short block should be built this month. If all goes as planned I'll be buying heads at the end of May. It will either be KRE's or Edelbrock D-ports. I bought some tubular upper a-arms and there's a front spring change coming too.

This project has had a few set backs over the past couple of years and was almost sold not so long ago. I'm going to hit it hard as time allows and get this damn thing on the road now.

Just getting it drive-able is the best goal. We all know these things are never "finished"..... 8)

New cover on the 8.5", NiCopp tubing, stainless hose.

Finally bought the wheels I've been eyeballing for a year. 18x8 US Mag 109

and I thought the AR torque thrust wheels I got for my GP were nice, you got some some gorgeous wheels and not nearly so common as the wheels I got. Really nice choice you made 🙂
