Picked up the heads today and got some color on them! Heads have been magged, milled, cc'd at 93, ported, gasket matched on intake & exhaust, pushrod holes hogged out, casting flash removed & oil drain back areas smoothed. SI stainless 2.11, 1.66 valves, Comp Cams springs, retainers, locks, bronze guides, & viton seals. I'm about $1100 into it now including the cost of buying the heads
I need to get going on the block next!

I might catch hell from the Poncho purists but I wanted something different than the old Pontiac blue that you see on everything. This is actually AMC blue. It's close to the blue used on Pontiacs in the late 70's except it has more flake in it.

It's close enough, lol. Did you do anything for the center exhaust ports? I know some people spray high heat primer first to try and minimize the discoloration.
BTW, I found a head gasket for my build. It's a NOS Fel-Pro, metal gasket with asbestos in between. I got them through Spott's Performance.

Funny that you ask because I was thinking about that while I was painting. I'm not overly concerned because I'm not putting together a show car. On the other hand I didn't buy crap parts store paint either. I ordered this stuff from Seymour Paints and it's supposed to be a little better. We'll see I suppose.\

Have you made any progress in your project since you got the right head gaskets?

I was thinking about giving that Eastwood ceramic engine paint a try. I have not heard anything about the Seymour Paints, I'll have to check it out. I've got aluminum heads, but I think I'm going to paint them; trying to get that stock look.
My shortblock is all together and most of my parts arrived. I picked up some scorpion roller rockers, Canton road race pan, new bolts, misc. seals, comp cams lifters (with the little oil hole), solid PPR cam, and a balancer. I'm just waiting on the machine shop to finish up the little bit of work they're doing on my heads. It's getting there...

Machine work on the block is my next endeavor. I hope the cost doesn't get out of control because I still have to buy pistons and rods. Those Poncho pistons aren't cheap! My block and crank look pretty good so we'll see.

Yea,I hear that. I think I'm up to about 7 grand in so far. The forged stroker kit was a big part of the cost, but I'm planning on a little nitrous, so I figured it's just extra insurance.
