BUILD THREAD 81 Buick/Olds Turbo Wagon 02/15/2024 More Parts!

Re: 81 Century/GN Wagon build-up New Pics! Update 11/25/13

Something I found and may give a try, just to see if there is a performance difference when it is all said and done. Picked up off the net from a few different camaro sites. Just wanted to post it here so I don't loose it.

Re: 81 Century/GN Wagon build-up New Pics! Update 11/25/13

I have been looking through the old threads on turbobuick, so I can get all the part numbers for my hydro boost conversion. I then realized I needed a powermaster or hydroboost brake pedal. Than, while looking at the want ads, I find someone going from hydroboost to vacuum. sweet, so we are gonna trade. Just have to yank mine out to send off.

Slowly trying to get all these parts. I also called another sandblaster, he does industrial type equipment, big rigs, dozers, etc. He will do my frame, and blast the chrome off the front and rear bumpers for $400.00. It used to be cheaper for that stuff a few years ago. 😢 That was the cheapest from the 3 places local that I know about.

Going to hit a local steel supplier on Tuesday to get the 11ga or 1/8" plate for boxing, 1/4 for the small notch, and some 2"x2" square tubing for the engine stand rotisserie I'll be building.

Bought a used cherry picker, and a 9 ft piece of 2"x2" square tubing for my rotisserie build.

I also bought a big ol piece or 11ga (1/8") for the frame boxing. Just have to get some 1/4" for the mini notch. 😀

I love how much we are on the same page (Im doing the same thing to the caballero chassis)
I have been watching powerblocks monte build and I am heavily conisdering in adition to boxing my rails welding in ladder bars like they did. What is your take on that?

Originally I wasn't going to go through all that. But after thinking and starting to repair things, it sunk in that the car is 33 years old. So I figured what the hell, lol. I haven't been watching alot of TV, so I haven't seen the power block Monte build. I have a 1970 Monte that is next inline in 2014 after the wagon is out of the shop, so i will have to take a look at it.

Here is the 2nd cherry picker I bought for my body rotisserie build. Now I just need to pic up some round pipe for the pivot points. I hope to start hacking it up over/after the holidays.

Ok, I picked up a power mirror switch from a caddy, forget what kind, lol. But it should fit in the factory escutcheon. I'll post up a wiring diagram when I figure it out.

I will document this. I should be able to get by with just the two cherry pickers. I will start a new thread for the build, I will also have something on the garagejournal for it. I DID NOT buy the rotating/locking mechanism. I will be doing a simple round tube design, like most are. I am trying to keep this under $300.00, I am at $200.00 now. I still need paint, the round pipe for the rotating part, bolts/nuts for welding, and other misc bits.

I had planned on adding the adjustment for the CG (center of gravity). That is just some all thread and a few nuts. Simple enough. Like I said, I'll document it and make a thread. Should be starting in a week or so with cutting the pickers up.
