BUILD THREAD 81 Buick/Olds Turbo Wagon 02/15/2024 More Parts!

Re: 81 Century/GN Wagon build-up New Pics! Update 12/23/13

I plan on putting the wagon on it first, so I can finish bed lining the underside. I did it sorta *ss backwards. I blasted and stripped the floors I could see and repair, then epoxy and paint then bedliner. I have to do the rear section after the axle, and where the frame rails cover.

Then, my wifes 70 Monte carlo, then my 65 Elky, then the 64 chevelle vert, :| .

Jim,
The rotisserie will be a nice addition, and make work underneath a lot more comfortable. Where will you attach the body to, where the bumper absorbers go?

Re: 81 Century/GN Wagon build-up New Pics! Update 12/23/13

Jack, since I have all full frame A and G bodies, I will make it so the mount using the front and rear body mounts. Ed (87GN), looks like his car was mounted that way.

Re: 81 Century/GN Wagon build-up New Pics! Update 12/23/13

Jim,
What was I thinking...d'uh? The body would be off the frame. Meanwhile, I was picturing it connected to the frame, which wouldn't be correct.
It will come in handy doing the work on the other project cars after the wagon. I would imagine the '64 Chevelle convertible body would need to be cross braced while on the rotisserie.

Yes jack, this is my second 64 vert, this one is an SS. It would need all sorts of bracing. I'll get to it eventually,

For now, I just want to get this damn wagon done! I am aggressively trying to scour the yards and want ads for the sh*t I need to get it on the road. I am close to having everything.

Re: 81 Century/GN Wagon build-up New Pics! Update 12/23/13

Well, we're approaching a new year. I have a good feeling that you will make a lot of progress on the wagon. You've done so much to it already. I know these things take time, especially when it done a certain way.

I finally got my dash all wired up and working. I'm tickled pink. It looks sooo good...and it's functional. It's nice looking at a dash and seeing the tach and instruments working... 😀 I know they're not as accurate as good aftermarket gauges, but that may change down the road.

A Happy and healthy New Year to you and your family. All the best.

Jack, I have seen the pics of your dash and they look great. I love the GP dashes, they are the best factory available bolt in option in my opinion.

I just wanted add that I will be getting my hood most likely next week. VFN contacted me today and told me is is getting picked up by the shipper today or tomorrow. I am very excited to get it in the mail. I have been waiting on the hood, so I can modify the fenders and fit the hood and all before pulling the body off the frame.

Jim,
I was wondering about your hood. I know you placed the order for it before the holidays. That's good news. It should look really cool cool on the car. I'm sure we'll see pics of it as you're fitting it.

It's always nice when new parts and goodies come... 😀

santa got gridlocked huh 😀 looking forward to seeing it on the wagon! 8) are you thinking of any hood vents for your fenders? i came across some old 67 skylark vents the other day,not really funtionable, more ornamental, but could be easily made to be?
