Ok, just got a call from the shipping place. I should have my hood on Tuesday! I cannot wait!
santa got gridlocked huh 😀 looking forward to seeing it on the wagon! 8) are you thinking of any hood vents for your fenders? i came across some old 67 skylark vents the other day,not really funtionable,more ornamental,but could be easily made to be?

Yeah, I'll say. 😀 For the vents, I was going to use the GNX vents, I already bought them and all and planned on making them functional. But after taping them on, taking pics and looking at then, they just don't flow well with the wagon body lines.

So I decided to do vents behind the wheel wells just like what (Ben) SRDart did. He beat me to it, I am glad though because I can see it looks good. I will have them functional and ducted to the engine bay, I figured keeping under the hood with the turbo cool is a big deal.

The power mirror switch fits the stock escutcheon. 😀

You know, I had thought about that. I saw a module somewhere to allow me to do that to the older vehicles, be damned if I remember where I seen it. Honestly, I am on the fence if I like it without a detented switch. I like to have to push/pull harder to go over the detent for the auto up/down. Some of the newer vehicles don't have that, and when I go to put the window down, I press the switch a tad too hard whenever I don't want to, like in the rain :blam:

Just received my hood off of the back of the truck. When I get it home in a few hours to unpackage it, I'll update with pics! I am very excited! I wish it came later in the day, I am so impatient! 😀

Re: 81 Century/GN Wagon build-up New Pics! Update 1/20/14

Here are a few quick pictures from my cell phone. The aren't the best, and in the dark. I have to fit the front end and all together, then take it ALL apart, lol. Over the weekend I will inspect the hood real close for imperfections.

The pictures don't really do it any justice. :| Once the bumper is tucked and narrowed, and the air damn/spoiler is fabricated, Is will really look bad *ss :twisted:

The white on the drivers front corner is a piece of cardboard. I have to figure out what I am going to do with the scoop openings, as they aren't very "clean" looking as is.

Lookin' good, Jimbo!
Very aggressive look. It's going to look badass when it's all together. I like it! :wink:

Hood Hinges

Just wanted to throw this in here so I don't forget. I was looking around for a hood hinge solution. I usually use a prop rod, but would like to try out a set of struts. The stock buick hood had struts, but it is sort of an add on bracket to the hood, and the stand-off is welded to the inner fender. I'll take some pictures and insert them in this post.

I member on MR used the factory malibu/monte hinges, removed the spring, and used struts.

Here is a link ------> http://www.maliburacing.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=14&t=105647

Strut/lift part number----> sg414012 http://www.rockauto.com/catalog/raf...ck[PHP_SESSION_ID]=p34fb50f0q51h9ori0folojdv4

Extended Length 10"
Compressed Length 7"

I am not sure how accurate this is, 3" difference seems a little off.

Ball studs part number -------> ml3000

I have to look around in my stash to see if I have malibu hood hinges, if not, off to the junk yard I go.
