niCE 8) looks great on the wagon!

In the spring, I'll roll it outside and take some more pictures. By that time, the bumpers should be tucked, the fender vents in, etc.

Now I need to get a rendering done to try out some color schemes, 😀

Re: 81 Century/GN Wagon build-up New Pics! Update 1/24/14

Jim,
I like the idea of using struts and eliminating the springs. I think it's more sophisticated than the springs. Plus having the lift assist which the springs don't have.

Looking at the pics, I think it was good choice going with the Olds nose. I like the look much better...especially the '78 single headlight look. Blakes car looks better with that same header panel.

Re: 81 Century/GN Wagon build-up New Pics! Update 1/24/14

I agree with the struts, I also agree about Blakes care, I am not a fan of the 4 headlight Cutlass nose for the wagons.

Side not, I was looking around, hit the oldspower board. Found heads up composites making some olds parts.

Man, I think this bumper setup would like pretty bad *ss on the wagon with that hood, and a hole for the intercooler!

Another, closer to the color I am painting the car.

I am going to have to be a member now, lol.

The new hood looks awesome, Jim!
It's a good thing I'm broke, otherwise I'd be pretty temped to order up one for my wagon lol...

That molded bumper will look slick if that's what you go with.
I should just send you the aluminum reinforcement from my old front bumper to go behind it unless you found one already... or you can have the whole thing if you want depending on what you decide to do.
Let me know if you want it, for you it's free. Last time I shipped a bumper it cost about $60, and just a reinforcement was like $40.

Re: 81 Century/GN Wagon build-up New Pics! Update 1/24/14

Jim,
Not to spend your money  but that front bumper would look cool, and would go nicely with your new hood.

Re: 81 Century/GN Wagon build-up New Pics! Update 1/24/14

Thanks Blake!
I had did a bunch of side jobs, and as soon as I got paid, I ordered the hood before I changed my mind. 😀 , like I always do. I am so glad I did. I still have to fit it and all, but it is unique!

I was going to contact them. On the oldspower board, it appears that set-up is $400 😢 , plus freight. Not sure If I can afford that or not.

The aluminum bumper support is something I have been looking for too. I was originally going to narrow the tuck and Buick bumper.

I'll have to PM you! You are the man! :respect:

Jack, I agree. It is already tucked, narrowed, and not chrome. With the air damn/spoiler. I supposed it would cost me close to 200 bucks in argon ($70 per fill), tungsten and filler/ or MIG wire, and de-chroming, and the bumper fillers. Not including 16 hrs or so to do the work.

I don't know, I am on the fence! :blam:

Re: 81 Century/GN Wagon build-up New Pics! Update 1/24/14

Jim,
It would save a bunch of work not having to cut and fit your stock bumper...plus as you said.. gas, wire, etc. It is a pretty trick looking piece with the airdam.

What do they get for the bumper? I haven't seen a price anywhere.

According to a post over at realoldspower, they are asking 400 for the front bumper  , plus another 190ish for shipping. Not cheap by any means, so I am on the fence :?

Re: 81 Century/GN Wagon build-up New Pics! Update 1/24/14

Yowsa!! That ain't cheap by any means. Looks like you might be cutting up a stock bumper after all. The Olds bumper is a massive piece, if I recall.

Do you have access to plasma cutter? That would cut down on the cutting time, instead of buzzing thru cutoff wheels.
