BUILD THREAD 81 Buick/Olds Turbo Wagon 02/15/2024 More Parts!

Re: 81 Century/GN Wagon Update 5/29/14 MORE PICS!!

When I put the body back on with the energy bushings I could not get the bolts to grab a thread cause the bushings cause the body to sit too high. I ended buying a couple of longer bolts to pull the body down so the correct length bolts could be installed. I don't know if anyone else had this problem but I thought I should mention it....

those are nice parts you made and the welding is perfect.....my welding is not close to yours but I have superb grinding skills..

I have read that somewhere before. Not sure if it was something you had posted a while back, my memory is not the best anymore. Hopefully I won't have an issue. I'll have to do a side by side, or even a mock-up, with one of the steel washers I made as a spare with the new bushings and bolts.

Thanks for the compliments on the parts. I have been using a welder on all my own stuff for 25 years, used to just be MIG, and I love me a 4" grinder!

Re: 81 Century/GN Wagon Update 5/29/14 MORE PICS!!

I had trouble starting the bolts for the #2 mounts when I redid mine.
Once I had the others all snugged down, I was finally able to get the bolts started.
You shouldn't have any trouble... *knock on wood*

I used the bushings and the bolts with the frame washer and did a trial run, I should be good.

I range started to replace the rotted frame rail.

Here is the frame extension I made for the ds rail. I will add the holes when the drive train is in.

Damn,

Wish I could weld like that!

I guess I missed the reference page, where do the reinforcements that you built fit on the car?

Really looks good. ...

Cut out the frame rail skin foe the notch. The thing was hammered in so bad, the frame was sprung. I really hope I can get it all back square.

Today, I will try and get both rails notched.

nice set up, a pool and a bbq and a picnic table for a work bench and an outside lift?......

Re: 81 Century/GN Wagon Update 5/29/14 MORE PICS!!

Yeah man, I can work, take a dip, and grab some grub. Wish the lift was inside though, for the cold and rainy days.

DS frame rail is notched.
