'83 Cutlass Cruiser Build Thread

Been debating adding the vinyl woodgrain trim around the car once it's painted. Should I do it?

Thanks for keeping us posted, Blake. Radio silence on a few channels has us worried.

The local cruising scene all but died about 9 years ago but there has been a bit of a comeback lately...
Found a pic on a local fb group that somebody posted of the wagon!
We had beautiful weather so I stacked up a little over 100 miles Saturday and over 250 Sunday.

Another 125 miles cruising today.
A bit cool, but still nice weather.
Unfortunately my gas gauge quit on me, but oh well...

Hopefully you had the opposite of the checkbook problem in that you still had gas in the tank even though the gauge reported empty...

Well the gas gauge has always worked, unless the headlites were on...
Turn on the lites and the gauge would drop to E. Lites off and gauge returns to normal function.
I ran the tank a bit lower than I normally do and while sitting at a stoplite, the gauge pegged all the way past F to the 3 o'clock position.
Lites on or off and no response from the gauge.
Put gas in the tank and no response from the gauge.
I assume either my ground wire broke or the float came apart from the sending unit in the tank...
I've always recorded my mileage when I fill up so it's not the end of the world... they're never done, right?! lol

Getting a lot of miles on the car the past few weekends cruising around!
I finally got a day lined up with my buddy to do the front-end alignment... we were going to do it today...
As luck would have it, my buddies shop is within Minneapolis's 3rd Precinct... and it's a little hectic over there at the moment!
So I'll wait a little longer... No worries here!
I've got another week off work this week, so I think it might be time to finally get that axle swapped in!

The car looks smokin', Blake.
It sits nice and you gotta love the vintage wheels.
Glad to see you getting some enjoyment out of it.

Thanks guys! It's great to be out enjoying it, even if I don't have anywhere to go!
When I put the slots on there 11 years ago, it seemed like nobody was running them anymore...
Within 2 years the repops were flyin' and now I see them so much I'm tempted to try something else.
I doubt I'll do anything soon, but I've been eyeing up some options of what might look good on there...
