84' Cutlass pro touring build

More stuff done. All I can say is it's a beatch doing this alone especially with no darn room to move around.

Looks badazz!!!!! FWIW, I'm rocking the final stages of the Cutlass by myself, in a 1 car attached garage. I'll take it over the past setups I had though.
I understand totally. I was spoiled in the past as I had a really big 3 car garage.... before the divorce. Lol

Not much to report on. Just picked up my 4L80E transmission and convertor. Mentioned to the guy who helped me load it on my truck that the 12 month 12,000 mile warranty would probably do me no good because I probably wouldn't have her running by then. I get a call from the owner after I leave and he tells me he would extend it to 3 years 36k for me because he deals with guys doing full frame offs all the time and that this trans is so stout for what I'm doing it should last forever. Built for 850hp. I believe in excess. Lol
Hopefully by next week I'll have fuel lines and brake lines done then I'll mate transmission to the engine and get her done. Also had convertor rebuilt with slightly higher than stock stall speed View attachment 120653View attachment 120654View attachment 120655View attachment 120657View attachment 120656
What did it set you back? I need to find a reasonable price 2wd core up here and build it for my 70S. I think the comment was on the questionable strength of that converter. I will also need one that can take 500 ft/lbs reliably. They say a line pressure mod is all that is needed on a good stock 4L80E to live at 600 hp.

Been there done that, so much happier now, and with a bigger garage to boot 😉

I got the trans and convertor in a trade. There's people running 200k mile stock 4l80e's with that power no issues. I just didn't want to take a chance. Around 2100 for both rebuilt

Not a bad idea for a rebuild. I really hope mine holds up, bought it used with 117k on it. Fluid looked good, no metal in pan and I could tell the pan had never been off. Slapped a Transgo kit in it, ordered a custom spec'd FTI billet single disc converter and gonna send it, I hope!

Did you have missing bolt holes in the block for some of the trans case mounting spots? I bought ARP bolts for mine and have 2 or 3 "extra" bolts leftover.
Nice converter btw
