84' Cutlass pro touring build

I've got some 3M roloc discs I've been using and they work very well. Can someone recommend other roloc discs? Would like to have an assortment. Also can you use 3 inch on a 2 inch setup or Is there another 3 inch base for those? Appreciate it!!!

You need a flap disc on a 4-1/2" angle grinder...that'll knock out rust real quick. The roloc's work well, just takes longer. Donovan always uses them clean and strip discs too.
I've got some flap discs for my 4 inch grinder. I was just thinking about the tighter spots where it won't fit

Gotcha. Yeah you can use the 3" roloc's on the 2" arbor...it'll actually allow you to "bend" the disc to get tight spots. Just be a little more careful, and WEAR SAFETY GLASSES!!!! I've had more than one tear to shreds while pushing the limits.

I did some removal of rusted areas and still need to cut a bit more. Here you can see under what I cut out and the piece with the body nut that I will weld in. Question is the lighter surface rust under the new.... should I use a rust converter then dtm epoxy before I weld in new piece or should I take it down to bare metal and just epoxy it?

In my experience, if I’m doing a quick and dirty project I’ll use rust converter and then coating of choice. If it’s really nice I’ll use a rust converter, then grind everywhere I can and then coating of choice. The converter is kind of an insurance policy for me when grinding to clean metal.

Since I'm waiting on epoxy primer and rust converter I figured I would delve deeper into vinyl top area a little
