84' Cutlass pro touring build

That divot where roof seem is looks like it's about 1/4 inch or more deep with filler. Is that normal? No rust really so I guess that's good
Any opinions from those who have defeated this beast before? Lol

Looks normal to me for a factory vinyl car. The factory filled the seam with lead, then slobbered on filler just to get it relatively smooth before putting the top on.
My car was factory hardtop that had a dealer installed top on it. My C pillars were super slick when the top came off, but the rust pinholes across the top and above the rear window dictated the roof skin swap.

Since I'm waiting on epoxy primer and rust converter I figured I would delve deeper into vinyl top area a little View attachment 132669View attachment 132670

When you get to the lead, melt it out. It's much easier.

Wire wheel until its clean, hit with a 36 or 40 grit rolock disc and fill with fiber reinforced filler. Go over the fiber filler with normal filler nice and thin. 😉

From this to this.... progress is slow

Very tedious indeed. Passenger side starts today. Once done with that I will coat the entire underbody with something. Leaning toward a good bed liner. Then get the frame under the car and begin the bodywork.

I prepped the passenger side under trunk for addition of new mount piece by cutting out old rusted metal, wire brushed and hit it with 2 coats of converter. I have to wait 48 hours to cure before I epoxy prime so I sanded some of lower quarter panel to see what I'll be working with. Some very small pitting. I really don't want to cut it out so my question is what should I do to stop it from spreading? Keep in mind guys that this car isn't going to see rain let alone snow. And if I get 10 to 15 years to enjoy it that'd be great. Close up shot is about 1.5 inches across for reference
