Wow I'll be interested to see how those fit on the front. My 275's on a 9.5" wheel with 5.25" just fit without touching anything
I was under the impression we were discussing the rears since the initial comment was about the tall rear tire in the pic along w/his statement "Not sure on fronts yet".

Tony1968,

Based off of observations learned from the car in my previous post, it important to know the parts combo & its dimensions. That '79 w/the TT2's had 2" G-body/S10 drop spindles, stock 10.5” discs, & aftermarket springs. The wheels were 8" wide w/5.25" BS & had take-off C5 Vette 245/40-18's (25.7").

Clearance outboard of the wheel was about the same as a 15x7 Ralley. At that height, inners were not an option.

For my build, I'm still configuring the parts combo & can't nail down a front size yet. I know I want to minimize the amount of F/R rake. A 255/40 & 295/35 combo does that @ 26.03(F)/26.12(R). But, to squeeze it in place is the challenge & how difficult will be dependent on the ride height. Modifying the front inner wells is a given on most of my builds but has to be mentioned since others may not go to that effort. The other thing is wheel limits. Some manufacturers only do 1-inch increments (8, 9, 10) while others might do ½-inch increments. Knowing what wheel you’re going to use & what limitations they have might help drive the decision tree. I’ve been researching the impact of the spindle/brake choices for the SSM ‘Tall’ spindle vs. the ATS-X/G-body units as well. It’s quite a bit to process.

SpeedTech promotes a GN w/the ATS-X/G spindle + their lower arms (Road Assault pkg)utilizing 18x9’s w/6” of BS & 275/35’s up front. I'm hoping to pull off the same size wheel combo but w/a different tire targeting 4" min sidewall height.

I'm not sure if I want similar height tires front to back. I don't mind a little taller in the rear. I also have to take into account the large front brakes and find a wheel I like with proper clearance. That's going to be a tough one especially since what I like is very costly. Taking my time...

I here ya. I looked for years for wheels that I liked. Found lots of them. They were also about $1500 EACH and up 😳 Wayyyyy outta my price range. Stumbled across the ones I have for a tenth of that each. Sold!

Mid mount install. Snapped a 1/2" to 3/8" drive. Never had that happen before. That was using the lower pulley damper install tool where I needed a deep socket and only had one in 3/8" drive. Was able to use 1/2" to tighten old bolt to 240 lb/ft. But then using the new bolt supplied and torqued to 59 lb/ft then 125 degrees.... Yikes. I swear I was going to flip the car over using a 4 foot jack handle on a 1/2" drive handle as a cheater.
