84' Cutlass pro touring build

So after buttoning up stuff like trans cooler lines, dropping the starter for umpteenth time to install passenger header, installing the front and rear steam lines, I'm finally getting to the body.
So can anyone tell me the best way to get the chrome piece off with stripped screws without damaging the fender?

And my plans are to pressure wash both then strip the paint. Soooo can someone tell me that the back side of fender doesn't need to go down to bare metal?
If I have to I will.... then I'll hit it with 2k epoxy primer

Got access to a welder? Easiest way I’ve found is to grind the heads off then weld a little bead on the studs. Put a set of vise grips on the beads and they’ll twist right out.
The heat from welding the beads on top helps free them up too.

I'll try that. Wouldn't grinding the heads off be enough to get the trim off?
Also what is your opinion on working on the inside of the fender??? Did you paint yours body color because I do not remember?

You could try a square head bit. Alot of times 1of the sizes will fit in the wollered out hole.

I wouldn't bother repairing that. You'll have at least four hours into it, most likely more. Time is money.
