BUILD THREAD 86 GP 2+2~Blown 6.0

Swapped the lowdoller 500 psi transducer out for the Honeywell 1000 psi and changed the needle valve to the smaller one.

Clutch pressure maxes out at about 650psi so I for sure needed the higher pressure sensor and I'm glad I didn't jump to the 1600 because I'd have really poor resolution.

The smaller needle valve gets me about 3/4 turn before it hits saturation so about 3 times as much adjustability.

Also spent some time in the lathe turning a new spud for dads tire machine. He has a 70's Coates 10-10 tire machine and it's not made for rims over 7" wide so this new nut should help it accept a 10" wide rim.

Going to spend some time on the tire machine and put my drag radials on the 15x10 wheels and see where I end up.

Drag weekend is Sept. 24-26 so I officially have a data to get the car to run consistent 11.50's to maybe win the no cage class.

Honestly I just want the rear end to stay together haha!

Vidjayo time too on the fuel pump stuffs.

I couldn't tell through the last couple of pages, is the 2nd pump staged?

Nice work getting them in there!!

Regarding the rear, if you can keep the wheels from hopping, then it's going to live imo. Shaking is one thing, but hopping is just plain brutal on any rear/axle combo. Really hope you can get this to the track some. You're 11.50 goal is more than achievable imo.

The second pump is always on. If the fuel gets hot or amp draw is a concern I might figure out how to stage it. Ecm, pressure switch or manual toggle based maybe?

I want the car to run 11.50's easy and go for high 10's. I'm comfortable with the goal but need to get there!

Just put it on a Hobbs.

I’m with Mike - Hobbs switch for sure. I’m surprised that -6 return is keeping up with both of them. The line or the rail return was too small for both of my AEM 400’s.

I’ll guess you have quite a bit of excitement occurring in the fuel tank also.

-6 AN return works IF you stage the second pump around the point where the first one reaches its limit (and stops returning fuel enmass).

Correct. My fuel pressure to 100+ with a set of truck rails until I staged them. I have the 2nd pump come on at 8 psi and it still picks up about 10 psi of fuel pressure until I'm at 11-12psi of boost.

I intend to check my back pressure on the 3/8" return right after the regulator.

I had 6psi of back pressure from the tank to the rails with a 3/8 feed and a single 450 feed side
I had 2psi of back pressure from the tank to the rails with 1/2 feed and a single 450 feed side
And I had 3psi of back pressure at the regulator to the tank on the 3/8 return side with the single 450

I want to see the tank to rail back pressure on the feed and return side with both pumps and see where it lands.
