BUILD THREAD 86 GP 2+2~Blown 6.0

You did fine on the speakers. If I had my fat, 240lb, 6' 4" *ss up in my trunk, damned near anyone can do it.

Getting in the trunk on a normal g body isn't a problem, getting into a 2+2 is the problem! I can barely fit a 215 wide spare tire through the gap. There is about a 8 inch opening max.

It's like spelunking I guess 🙂

Trust me, I wasn't drunk, I just have no idea what I am doing and don't have the patience for sanding.

Primer is on, going to shoot paint tomorrow and pray it doesnt look awful.

I guess this side looks better.

Not a perfect match, I guess thats what over 30 yrs of paint fade will do, but I am decently happy! I would spend more time trying to blend the paint next time, but for what it's worth I have no real complaints.

Bodywork sucks. I don't like it.... at all.
Did a shop match the paint up off the code? They did a good job with my Light Sage even though it had a ton more flake in it; the color was spot on.

I just noticed looking for stripes that this must have had a dealer installed stripe on the top of the fender/doors. None of the other 2+2's I see have it. I assumed it was factory since it's a dead on match color wise to the bottom stripe orange/red.

Fun Fact!

I might see what model paints I have that are close. Turn the 20fter into a solid 18fter. 🙂

Took the 2hr drive to the goodguys show in Desmoines yesterday morning. Drove down with a couple buddies. Got there around 11, got teched in at the autocross, got 2 runs in.

1st run my glovebox door flew open and I had crap flying everywhere and I didn't know how the car really worked. 51 seconds? Super nice 70ish chevelle ended up crashing and that took 2hrs to clean up. Got another run in around 4pm and knocked it down to 49 seconds. Car needs swaybars for sure, and probably tires.

Overall had moderate to low front end grip and understeered HARD. You can see on like the 3rd right turn half way down the track the tires are squeeling like a pig and not doing anything. Otherwise, It did OK. The full on $200k+ builds were in the 38-39 second range and the mostly street cars were in the 44ish range with generally sorted suspension and a good driver.

Oh, and the 10yr old worn 275 BFG's up front at least tried to grip but the little I know about autocross is they rolled over hard. You can see the sidewall scuffs on them.
