BUILD THREAD 86 GP 2+2~Blown 6.0

Boost garage!

Finally being settled into the new place and got some time to get a few little things done on the 2+2.

The starter gear was being hung up on the slider shaft and staying engaged for 10-30 secs after the engine started so I pulled the starter and cleaned an greased it. Works good now

Also adjusted my pinion angle to try to get rid of a driveline vibration I've had for a while. Didn't help any. I think the driveshaft is out of balance.

Took the car for a little drive yesterday and everything seems good.

If I get time this winter it's getting an oil pan that didn't hang below the crossmember and AC

How are the front rims that you made holding up?

From what I can tell good. I don't have many street miles on them this year though. They still hold pressure however for over 6 months.

I got these new 17" wheels in May and been running them since. Haven't been to the track this year since I just got the new rear axle built and want to sell my old 16" Drag radials and rear end to fund a new set of wheel vintique 15x10 rears and some 275 DR's to match my home made fronts. Haven't had anyone that wants to pay for my 8.5 "wide" rear end and i dont want to have another set of wheels sitting around.

Usually I get an excuse to take the car to the track and get some street miles on it during drag week-end in a few weeks but it's on hiatus this year.

Reactions: Clutch and TURNA
Backed out of it the garage to sweep for the first time in 2 months.

Probably going to put a 302-2 oil pan on this spring and work on getting a new driveshaft made since the Nascar Winston cup shaft that's on it now I bought off eBay has a little shimmy.

Ordered a Holley 302-2 oil pan off Summit around Christmas on their sale.

Fed-Up claims it was delivered but I couldn't find it. Asked my neighbor and he didn't get it.

So I put a claim in with Fed-up. It basically said "if we say its delivered and you don't see it too bad" in the form but I put it in anyways.

They either
a) delivered it to the wrong house
b) it was stolen off my steps

Well there likely goes $350. Of course they raised the price again and the sale is off now so its going to cost $400 to get another one. F....

Maybe it's fates way of telling my that I have had the stock truck pan in for 3 years, its best just to keep it in.

I hope if it was delivered to the wrong house that they return it or if it was stolen the person's engine blows up or something. I guess time will tell. It's too cold to change the pan anyways for a few months.

Have summit make the claim

Summit paid the shipping and most likely have some insurance deal worked out with FedEx

Thanks for that suggestion.

I called summit and they said they will have to put a claim in.

3 minutes later they said they will ship out another one no cost. That was surprisingly easier than I imagined. When I said Fedex shows it got here but I never saw it the customer service rep was totally unsurprised and was like meh, we will get another one your way today.

Yay!

They could care less it's a tax write off or a FedEx credit

Hopefully you get this one!!!!!!!!

UPS once lost a fabricated steel bumper for my wife's truck... it was 6 feet long, 100lbs, and on a pallet! $1000 part with a 3 month lead time for fabrication - Summit was on it and had it all sorted out ordering us a new unit with no questions asked.
