I'd suggest just using the metal clips. I bought the plastic trim clips for my windshield moldings and they did not work at all. The metal clips that are usually marketed for A Body trim is what I used and they work great.

Do you happen to have a part number you used. Or did you just look it up on ebay/amazon

The metal clips I use were from NAPA 665-2286. I think they were for the early A bodies 64-66.

I have the engine cleaned up. Noisy gear drive removed and back to timing chain. The guy lost one of the aluminum pulleys so if he cant find it im going to need a pulley set. Bought a 2300 stall from jegs and am cleaning up the transmission. I also started painting interior parts. My dash cap should be in soon to try to make it fit. Bought a cheapie off ebay so hopefully its usable.

As a word of warning. Dont buy the dirt cheap dash covers from eBay. This thing was horrible. The curves didn't line up. It was designed to leave the passenger side vent panel in place and go over it which i trimmed out. The radio box are didnt fit and had to cut off. The dash speaker areas didnt line up.

I ground down the cracks and sanded the whole dash. I had to remove the original dried out vinyl on the sides to get it to even drop on.

Ive heard nothing but good thing with dash covers from restoration place and didn't figure there could be that much difference. Boy was i wrong.

I guess we will see the results this evening after the silicone dries. The dash came with a little tube of silicone adhesive. I went and got a tube of 100% to make sure i had enough

I have one that has been sitting around since about 2007. An Ebay buy from one of the bigger/main cap makers & the test fit sucks too. Doesn't really fit like it'll lay right over everything. When forced in place I can't get either the '78-'85 or '86-'88 radio bezel to fit. It seems like they made a mold of an OE dash & didn't bother to scale it up enough to slip right on. I ended up breaking down & bought an OPGI dash & just waiting for them to get mine shipped some year.
