Q-jet only supplies as much cfm as the engine needs. Its the beauty of the design. The bog is normally associated with how fast the secondaries are opening. In this case, too fast I believe. I wouldn't call myself a Q-jet expert but I aspire to become one. You should be able to tune that bog out of it fairly easily. Hopefully someone more knowledgeable will chime in.

Someone will likely chime in. The Q-jet is said to take a little more work to dial in but once its there, you can't do much better. This book is well spoken of. I have a copy of it but haven't spent much time with it yet.......

You could also PM Mark with Quadrajet Power. He is a member on here. He built my carb. His handle on here is Quadrajet Power.

Need to adjust the air valve for the secondarys to come in a little slower... tighten the spring about a 1/4 turn.

Edelbrock produced the aluminum heads that came on crate motors.

I dig it, big block with air and a 9 inch.

I will try that in the morning,I do have a question,my secondaries are manual linkage I believe, does it still have a air valve, please excuse my inexperience

The top set of doors over the secondarys is an air valve. Designed to allow an engine to take in as much air as it needs or wants. On the passenger side at the top, rear, where the air valve pivots, the he here is a thehehereiny straight slot screw. It is locked into place with an Allen head set screw you must loosen first.

Turn the tiny screw in, clockwise a 1/4 turn at a time while test driving.
