A clean house doesn't have that V8 rumble. A clean house doesn't go fast. A clean house doesn't give you the same feeling of accomplishment that a finished project car does. A clean house only looks good from the inside, your car will look great inside and out. I could go on and on. I bet none of these reasons would work on your wife though! Lol.

Much appreciated! Many hours in, many hours to go...but that's hotrodding! I'm usually messing with something on it everyday. I literally just finished cleaning up the door lock mechanisms so i can put the new black bezel locks together. Stupid little tedious things like this eat up clock, but have to be done.

Since mother nature threw KY as well as most of the midwest a curveball, going from 80° yesterday down to 35° today i had to hold off on painting anything. However, it gave me time to swap the door lock pawls and clips over to my new black locks.

I noticed they pawls were loose with the clips installed, so i tried the old clips with the same results which i didn't like. I ended up using both old and new clips together, which added enough tension to hold the pawls tight to the lock. Small thing checked off the list, now to finish prepping the handles for a little custom touch.

Well, i just finished standing outside in the cold while knocking the subpar gloss black paint and many imperfections off of my new door handles...prep sucks, but the finished product should look way better. I can't really complain for spending less than $10 on both. If i have trouble down the road, i plan on keeping my factory handles just in case.

I didn't bother taking the paint off the inset portion as i will be adding custom inserts, but they have been scuffed for good measure.

For reference, here is how they looked:

This is now. They are ready to have the mounting flange taped up, wiped down again, and sprayed on the next warm day.

Oh the tedious, time consuming things still left 😱....that's hotrodding!

Thanks Donovan! Gonna use this pretty stuff since i have plenty already on interior pieces, as well as exterior. I keep telling myself to design cohesively, and keep everything tied together.

I love it when a build incorporates a theme throughout. You don't seem to see that much anymore, at least not around here.

Looking forward to the finished product, that should look awesome.

I'm actually a bit surprised that you "let the cat outta the bag" and showed your hand. I thought for sure you were going to make us all wait to see!

Lol, well i had thought about holding off on the details. However, anyone who digs into my build thread will realize quickly that i love the look of carbon fiber! It looks good with about anything when done right, and it's the real stuff. Not knocking the 3M dinoc vinyl...it has it's purpose and looks great as an imitation.

I actually did the same treatment to my oem handles years ago as a test, and it held up really well. The sheet i have has very, very strong 3m backing as well as UV resistant clearcoat.

Hopefully i can get em done this week if the weather cooperates....we shall see!
