A Fabricobbler's Guide to the Turbo Buick Galaxy- Cutlass Rehash

Gotta do what you can, parts are hard to get ordered on time it seems, I still haven't found a roller cam for my 4.1 build.

After 4 months of zero car progress due to bathroom remodeling Im finally back to the garage.

Got the old carb tank out, swapped the filler neck to the new efi tank and soldered it in. Also started prepping the fuel sender for the hello-kitty walbro. Ran the pump power wire from the engine bay roughly where the relay will sit to the tank, ran a -6 AN hose from the engine to the tank for return but realized it's too short (was the old feed line from the 2+2) and it's going to be a mess of fittings if I decide to use it so I'm going to scrap reusing it and get new stuff. I need to order up a new roll of 3/8 and 1/2 hose for feed and return.

In other news I pulled the old body mount bolts in process to change them. I snapped two bolts (the ones behind the rear tires) because they were significantly reduced in diameter due to rust. Cut the trunk floor out and extracted the broken bolt. Need to get some new bolts and weld the spots I cut in the floor.

Lighting doesn't strike twice they say and it didn't for me. All the bolts came out in the 2+2 without issue when I did this bushing project last year. I'm not overly upset that 2 broke, honestly it's almost the best case scenario considering. 40 year old car with a few MN winters. No real rust that I've seen. As long as theres no holes rusted in the frame that need patches I'm happy.

Empty the tank setup, focus on safety.

Chomp chomp. I order these efi tanks without the filler because most report the non OEM necks don't have sufficient venting and they are all in different locations make to make so don't line up with the license plate door. Ensures fitment and saved some $$.

Cutting my rust free trunk. Great.

Wasn't much left of this one and it was the better of the two.

Battery charger next to gas fumes. Did you mention to the other half to head to the newly remodeled bathroom and enjoy it before the inevitable?

Nice build. I waited 5 months before I finally filed a PayPal dispute with CK Performance for their high performance pump, shift kit and full seal kit. They shipped it 2 days before the 30 days ran out. They claimed they were waiting on parts for the pump rebuild, pretty sure they just forgot.

Thanks!

Yeah I have moved on from CK being my supplier. He had a good technical manual and fair prices but I have heard zero good things about service from him. I think he's just past his prime of wanting to be in there business and on coast.

I got good vibes from David Husek but I need to invest time in really building something WITH him, boxing stuff up and shipping, having him go through things, and I realized it's going to be an investment in time and $$ and I need to keep up with him and not leave him hanging waiting for a response. So I'm shelving that til summer.

In other news man, sourcing body mount bolts is kinda a PITA. I want a flange head 10x1.5 75mm bolt too replace my rusty ones and they are a b*st*rd to find. Stock hardware store stuff is too short or not sufficient thread length. I've gotta fire up the McMaster Carr and see if I can order something through them.

This the first issue I had waiting. I bought boost valves and a GN servo the year before from CK. I didn't want to piss around setting up a pump on this trans, so I ordered his. Swapping in his .555" boost valve in my current pump and I was rewarded with 200 psi line pressure, no where near good enough for my Olds 358.

My wagon build thead is closed so I'm throwing it here. If your sad about the wagon getting de-turbo buicked at least the new owner is out there still getting it done with it!

And here comes back the seller's remorse
