Lol yeah, he had an injector stick closed lean up that hole and torch a piston, instantly dumping 20 psi of manifold pressure into the crankcase about 50 ft before the traps.

Cars so quiet and with the exhaust out the bumper he didn't even know.

My wagon build thead is closed so I'm throwing it here. If your sad about the wagon getting de-turbo buicked at least the new owner is out there still getting it done with it!

And here comes back the seller's remorse

10.99 is pretty awesome. Needs a real tuna to show him the ropes. 😉

EDIT: Ah, a mechanical failure is definitely not blame worthy.

Looks like a pretty clean install. Looks fast.

I never saw that video. 2 body bolt ain't bad, considering the location. Though getting the false floor out is a pain in the @55

Got my body mounts installed tonight. The last of my fuel system parts showed up and I planned to get the tank and pump wrapped up but I called it quits at just the mounts.

I used the bolt kit from Mike's. It was ok. The OEM bolts were longer on the header panel making it a but tough to line everything up, the OEM bolts had more thread and they had a chamfer on the first few threads to make alignment better. I was hoping for an OEM replacement and these were OEM inspired. They still work but weren't ideal.

My 81 non f41 car has the GP bushings oddly enough

It was time

Most frame holes were fine

But the fronts behind the front tires were rusty

Used one of the spare washers and although I didn't have a 1.5" holesaw I had a lathe and boring bar so I opened it up and laid it in the frame and tacked it in from the bottom

I only fixed the passenger front, the driver's probably should have been done but it wasn't as bad, so I left it alone. Either way it's done.

Good job! I dread the day I choose to do this on the Monte... but, I figure it will accompany a bunch of frame work.

Thanks!

Yeah I have been lucky in that both my 2+2 and this car were Texas cars and are relatively clean. I was a bit optimistic thinking the Cutlass would be as clean as my 2+2 (which was spotless with zero broken bolts or frame holes rusted out) and I wasn't, but still I have nothing to complain about.

2 broken bolts and 2 rusty frame holes is honestly almost best-case. I don't envy Canadian cars.....

I self imposed a deadline of May 1st to get the 4.1 swapped and running. Why?
A. I need to spend some of the summer dialing in the 2+2 (new gears, launch rpm, timing) and for some reason the most local track has no test n tune time from the middle of June to October. Why? Who the crap knows. All their T&T are late April-early June and late Sept/October. And the track close to home has continued to prioritize drifting and has literally 3 drag racing weekends for the entire flipping summer. No, I'm not salty....
B. Theres a 'buick club' car show at the park not far away May 1 so I have a target to meet.
C. I have a rule of 'don't take your running hotrod apart on the first day of spring' and am IMMEDIATELY breaking that rule by not doing absolutely zero on the car all winter and then getting to it as soon as the snow melted. So I got about 2 weeks before the gravel and salt gets washed off the roads and I feel comfortable taking it out.

So I gotta get to work! If the stars align I want the engine ready to pull early next week.

Finished the dual feed supply wiring on the fuel tank and it's ready to go in. The hose showed up so I gotta start pulling feed and return.

Since the welder is out I welded up the holes I cut in the trunk to remove the broken body mount bolts.

They'll never know! It's not perfect but it was quick easy fix and when I toss the trunk carpet over it will be out of sight out of mind.

I tacked 2 spots on the driver's mount and the welder quit. Didn't think of checking the spool of wire (naturally it was out). Luckily I had some .025" wire that I rejected years back because this welder doesn't seem to like it and it gets burn backs into the contact tip really bad. Luckily I didn't have a ton of issues with the welder and the small wire today.
