A Fabricobbler's Guide to the Turbo Buick Galaxy- Cutlass Rehash

No way its a Gen1 78/75

Its CLEARLY the superior head flow characteristics of the Buick V6 that make the 78/75 outperform what would be capable on an LS

SBE - I doubt that has hypers and stock rods nor a Gen 1 7875. Maybe, but I'd be suspect of it.

motorheadmike - you ain't just a whistlin' Dixie about the days of the $2500 turbo being over. Until you start making 4 digit power that starts with a 2 and have a motor that you rally love there is no reason to not buy these China journal bearing turds. For the love of God you can run with a spare (I do hehe).

Fun fact, it's almost impossible to put too large of a turbo on anything as long as you have converter enough to handle it. Unless of course you're one of these turbo lag whiners.

Glad it's working and it was something simple. And I agree about the leakdown tester - invaluable tool.

Except.....China bad.

I also stand by the statement of don't stick your dick in crazy... but, it took me 4+ years to learn that lesson.

My passenger rear wheel cylinder was leaking really bad so I swapped that tonight.

Man do I hate drums brakes. The 8.5 that's going in will 100% have disks just to not deal with drum problems.

Tossed half a tank of $4.89 91 and took it for a short pull. Man do I need to get e85 set up!

I'm also pretty sure my new o2 sensor is dead from the swap between the carb turbo and this and I need to pick up a replacement. It reads dead lean still.

But otherwise the engine runs good, pulls strong. Trans shifts better than the old one. I need to get my tach and oil/temp gages hooked up along with getting the right blinker to work. And buy a new PS pump, pretty sure mine blew out and the hoses look mostly straight but it's whining really bad.

Making progress!

Are you running a wideband (just for reference)?

Drum brake DO suck, but they work and they're cheap. But damn, all those springs - definitely requires a beer and a couple of WTF moments.

Yeah, just running it for ref at this point. My narrow band OE sensor works fine so I assume the sensor is dead, the car runs too good for it to actually be leaner than 18:1. I do plan on inputting the wideband signal it into the upgraded PCM board that I am purchasing to adjust the VE table (it's not self tuning like Holley or realtime like HPTuners but due to HPT limits I don't have realtime tuning on so I'm used to it).

It doesn't help that the old cylinder coated everything in the drum with brake fluid. I burned half a roll of shop towels and 1.5 cans of brake clean just to get it where I could touch the parts.
