no guys its all

good and all, I mean I honestly dont think it is that either but my dads the one doing the work not not me this is way over my head. For one I was just told by my brother that there is 0 power no lights or nothing. Correct me if im wrong but shoudnt the headlights and what not still be working. They are not even connected to the ignition right??? I think it is the battery cables myself. That is the main source of power.

alternator

you need to stop and take a break!! to solve a electrical problem you have to follow the power, after you make sure the grounds are good!!!this is easy, just take a test light and connect it to the positive side of the battery and touch all the grounds with it, if it lights up you have a ground!!
to check the solenoid on the starter all you have to do is connect the test light to the ground side of the battery, find the purple wire on the solenoid touch the light to it and have someone try to start the car ...if the light turns on and the starter doesn't turn over then the problem is in the starter

you said in your last post that you didn't have head lights or dash lights don't come on when you turn the key on...this could be your fusable links are burnt or broken or you have a problem at the main connection to the fuse panel, you can check both with your test light...i hope this helps you with your problems, let me know what you find....jesse

my

buddy was just over with his amp meter and everything he said was good. he started putting my starter back on and my dad came out creating tons of drama about how I am a such and such on and on! my friend took off in a furious rage. This is my daily life. My dad doesnt allow me to learn from him yet I am unable to teach myself as well. It really sucks and all. I just hope my dad is right in the end when he replaces the ignitition switch. I only have to live at home another year then I can be gone from all the drama that surrounds me. 😀

do you own a test light? you really need to check it out before you take anything apart..... i feel ya about the dad thing.... even if he drops the column he should check it with the test light!!! the last thing you want to do is diagnois by replacing parts...most of the time i ends up costing more money and time you should take it to a shop....
also if your car is a column shift make sure you take the prndl cable off the housing or i will break......jesse

well

finally some good news, the car runs again after my dad put the starter back in. Thing is there was a ton of corrosion on the ground cable the black one that is going to the starter. I just hope it lasts and this doesnt happen again it was a real headache. Thread Closed for now :? :? :?
