check the wire from the battery to the starter and also make sure the ground from the battery to the bracket on the engine is good and with a good contact. There isn't much else to look at if the battery and starter are good....

Grounds can do some funky things, also theres alot to be desired about the fusable links going to the starter-thats one of the first things i take out i chased an electrical plague for a week before i found out it was one of those.

my dad

is going to drop the steerling column, and replace the ignition switch he said. he thinks it is that now. I have no power in the car whatsoever.

if you have no power in the car then pontiacman may be right..check out the fusible links.......

My dad

checked it he said I guess. He said power is getting to the battery ok. and the alternator is checking out ok as well with his light. It has to be somehwere between the starter and ignition.

why are you changing the ignition switch? didn't you say that you were getting a click when you turned the key? sounds to me like the switch is doing it's job alright. if you are just getting a single click, and you know the starter's good, it might be wired wrong, or it might be the solenoid.
if there's a bad tooth on the flexplate, it'll make a "click-hummmmmmm" sound or a high pitched grind, almost like a circular saw. turning the engine by hand will bring the gear to a spot that the starter can grab if this is the case.
if the engine is seized, you'll hear the starter trying to work against the engine.
i would double check the connections on the starter, that seems to me like the most likely solution.

my

dads been working on cars for 30 something years. The wiring is fine it worked for the 2 years ive had the car so the wiring going to the starter was fine. The solenoid problem would have come up on the starter test at the store, there are no chipped teeth on the flywheel, the alternator is brand new, the battery is brand new, the plugs and wires are brand new, so is the MAF, EGR, and all vaccuum hoses, new fuel pump, new fuel filter, there really isnt much more that can be wrong. All corrosion has been cleaned and all connections are tight too. 3 things, bad wire, bad ignition module which I highly doubt, and a bad ignition switch. Even the guy at advanced who he says has like 20 years working on cars says that where he would go next, its a 15 dollar part so it wont be expensive, my dad said droppin the column is a b*tch though.

Just to make sure, jump a wire from the battery to the terminal on the starter where the ignition switch wire connects to and see if it cranks over.
