My MCSS temp is so consistently at just a hair above the 100 degree line that I tested my temp gauge and sending unit 2 years ago to make sure it was working properly. Yesterday I was sitting at a red light and I saw the needle move! It was a huge awshit moment because I knew something was bad wrong. The temp never got over 200 but I was intently watching, and waiting for it to climb higher. When I popped the hood I didn't see the problem right away. The 16 inch fan does not have a frame or a protective ring/rim for the blades. The fan had loosened, and dropped down just enough, 1/8th to 1/4 inch to make contact with the lower radiator support. I had already purchased a 16 inch replacement fan for my LS swap but will be replacing the old fan today. I'm very impressed with how well my radiator worked, with a partially or totally non working fan.

After a few adjustments I'm finally happy with my top support fitment. Tried closing the hood and the damn hood spring catches the front of the support. Can't effing win.

I bought the same top plate and had to do the same mods to keep my factory style hood spring. Only pic I can find is an oldie but still using that plate.

Drove about 150 miles yesterday and hit several rough spots. I **thought** I had my fan fixed but it slipped again. Shook loose just as I turned into my neighborhood. Damn shame. It is a nice 18 inch aluminum fan. I replaced it with an all plastic 16 inch fan with a full cover. I managed to get the new fan attached without removing the radiator. I can reach the driver side with my hand. The passenger side top I gripped the plastic lock nut with my biggest channel locks. I engineered a tool to help reach the bottom lock nuts using some masking tape, some rubber hose gaskets and a broom handle. It worked really well. I readjusted my top support so it fit even tighter than before. New fan and support look awesome.

Was that an open blade electric fan? Hopefully that new fan moves enough air. If not, you can probably fit 2 in there.
