GN Another kind of Grand National Buick

I remember going to the local 1/8th mile in the mid 90's and I'm driving to the pits I see what I thought was a Chevy Corsica crack off an 8.50@88 mph (Viper GTS's at the time ran 88 mph in the 1/8)

After I parked, the guy parked next to me. It was a Shelby CSX-VNT. I had never seen one before, and I don't think I've seen one since. His mods were a hollowed cat and tweaks to run more boost.

I said "you probably don't lose many roll races". He replied, "Nope".

Another car from the 80's lost to history. If you found an original CSX-VNT today, no one would believe it was fast and you would blow it up trying to prove to someone that its was fast and all the ones that were fast 25 years ago are all broken and gone, The obscure car conundrum.

I knew a truck driver years back that had one of these....

It was a very unassuming car, but was stupid fast! He had quite a bit of work done to it, and it would run 20ish lbs of boost! I rode in it a few times and it was a blast!

I love that car. None of the other grilles, but the ‘84/‘85 was sharp. 20psi would be a nice start

I have a friend of mine that has a turbo z identical to that one in his stable it’s such a cool car. As for the lesabre GN they are silly rare I know where one is that is in horrible shape but not for sale as of now sadly.

A buddy of mine bought what appeared to be a sacked out Daytona like this, but it made 16psi!

He blew it up.

My buddy had a CSX and was quick, but the ‘80s sucked from a performance standpoint. I had a ‘70 455 Skylark and spent my teenage career proving that point. Even a real GN sucked by the ‘60s-‘70s standard, and by today’s standard. Yea, I know about a Turbo T running in the 13s and all the BS everybody was trying to get excited about, but any legitimate street car with M&H Racemasters would a$$hone a stock-ish GN by many carlengths. They were what the rich kids had that didn’t hang around my blue collar (built not bought) crew. The GN owners don’t act much different now. Try to speak to one of them at a car show. But I digress..............
You can speak to me about mine anytime at a car show, or in my driveway. If you're cool, I'll even let you drive it. But I digress............ 🤷‍♂️
