battery disconnect with key?

I wonder if the alarm kind that you mentioned earlier would work? I know that they were on late '70's maybe early '80's Fords like the T-bird's, on the drivers side fender. They were also on the Lincon's. Maybe check out the junk yard and see what they look like. They might work as a disconnect. Let me know what happens.
 
If you're looking for security, wire up a high current relay to your keyed switch. Run the power for the car (not the battery cable) through that relay, or a separate relay for each wire coming off the starter/battery that provides power to the fuse panel. If those relays are well-hidden, you could hide the keyed switch behind something like a 12v socket cover.

well i was thinking of buying 2 of these

and then cut one of each apart to see how i can mount them together and use that as a prototype.

That's pretty clever. If it works you could probably sell it online for some decent money. It's the American way!

anyway, does the plastic one lock/unlock with a 1/4 turn or 1/2 turn?
