Vortec heads are just as good as LT1 heads except for being normal coolant flow,.

stock LT1 castings flow 190 cfm and stock Vortec castings flow 235 cfm
Is the 190cfm from the aluminum version? It's been my understanding that the iron LT1 heads flow better than aluminum.

they do and I'm not sure if I posted a number from an aluminum or iron head...... "1996 Caprice/Impala heads outflowed the Corvette Aluminum LT1 heads by as much as 20 cfm on the intake side"

Jetsetw31- the 330 w/ a T5 def sounds different. How much was your T5 swap? I have researched it backed to a Chevy engine but what extra is needed to back to an Olds?

Mine was collected over a long period, meaning I caught a lot of deals. And I custom did a few parts. The Bell housings, the flywheel, and the pilot bearing are the only different parts for the Olds. They can get pricey too, but you can score a decent deal if you look in enough places. I told you about the flywheel and the only T5 I would recommend getting is the '88-92 Fbody T5. The bell housing you want is the late 60s early 70s BOP or Cross pattern Bell housings. I say that because the I'm not sure if the late starters will fit a 330 sbo. Aftermarket bell housings are about 400 bucks. Used ones should be 200 and down.
If your going hydraulic throw out bearing, the only one i'd recommend is the Howe racing unit for T5s. Pontiacgp got me on a Howe and I'm very grateful and pleased with it's installation and operation.
I covered a lot in my threads viewtopic.php?f=10&t=45164 and viewtopic.php?f=10&t=45165.
That's about all I have for now. You get stuck on anything just ask.

The Vortecs were designed after the LT1 heads were and it shows.
