Nice! The heads were actually pulled from the same burban i got the valve covers, rockers and some misc bolts from. At least i know everything will bolt up with no issue. After a seal and spring upgrade to some btr .660's, they will go onto the 5.3 i just finished short blocking a couple weeks ago. It will get twins at some point, with a 4l80 nestled into my 87 cutlass.
Here is a pic of the 5.3. Fresh rebuilt with new bearings, rings, and wrist pins, torque plate honed, and a new gmpp crank. I put a tick turbo stage 1 cam in it, ls2 chain dampener, and a bunch of other goodies.View attachment 68920
Oh boy you're a lot nicer to your stuff. I'm going to clean it and all but it's getting the same 200k mile bearings and cam and everything else lol. Bearings looked great when pulled apart. Dingleball honed the cylinders and cleaned everything decently and threw it back together. Hate to say it but I think she's gonna get the original head bolts too. [emoji28]
There is a couple reasons for that. I bought the short block with all the work already done for a heluva price....just missing a cam, flexplate, and other odd and ends. It was basically a semi-blank canvas which allowed me to put my touch on it!Oh boy you're a lot nicer to your stuff. Also, I'm in the middle of a 5 year resto, and my cutlass will be a cruiser/show car that will be able to light off the tires at will!
I have pics in my build thread...but i literally brought the short block and extras home in the trunk of my mazda lol! View attachment 68923
...here is a pic of the efi 355sbc i ran for years until the block gave up on me. The goal is to have the LS look super clean with hiding wiring, but bust tail when necessary.View attachment 68922
That's quite impressive being able to do the power tour at 20 man! I've had my cutlass since you were 3 or 4 lol! I did my 1st engine swap on the cutlass at 18/19 and never looked back! However, the LS stuff was unheard of back then. You had a sbc, and crammed whatever HP out of it possible within ones budget! That'll make a good power plant. I'm fairly young only being 20 years old and this wagon has been good to me. I like the old school stuff but I just don't think you can get the bang for buck out of anything like you can the LS stuff.

Ldr was the one that showed us all pics of your wagon...nice cruiser! That's awesome! I like hearing all these old stories. I'm actually good friends with ldr on here we live in the same town and he's been Buddy's with my dad since before I was around. He's been a big help to me. When I put my 5.3 in I want ac. Are you putting ac in with yours? I want to know if the compressor will clear the k member and how to convert the factory lines to work with it.
