Side rubber

I need the side rubber myself. My wagon looks like someone tried to make their own prviously and it's falling out. I heard of a place at OLD Station Wagons web-site that makes custom rubberstripping. Maybe if enough of us wagon guys order this we can get a reasonable price?

Rear window rubber

Has anyone ever tried these guys yet?

You can also try two places that custom-make weatherstripping. First is Karr Rubber Mfg., which advertises that not only do they manufacture rubber & weatherstripping, but will also custom-make pieces. You can contact them at 310-322-1993 or 800-955-5277, or 133 Lomita St., El Segundo, CA 90245. Second, try Wefco Rubber Manufacturing at 818-886-8872

thanks for the links

A guy that I know over at Malibu Racing once suggested going to a body shop supply and getting universal rubberized plastic side trim (the proper width) cut and mitred to fit the quarter windows and glued in.
That would be a last ditch alternative.
Several years ago at one of the Super Chevy Shows, a guy had a nicely painted '79 Malibu wagon with the original aluminum trim.
At a closer glance, there was black caulking where the plastic profile strips usually go. I thought that was kind of tacky. A car with a high dollar paint job.

Charlie, the quarter window trim was originally black, but never seemed to hold paint. Along with those pieces painted semi-flat black, I also painted the upper B-pillars black as well, and the window frames on all doors.

Brian, Thanks for posting pics of the trim pieces.

Blake, or anyone who has taken one apart, mine is titled as a 82, the quarter glass was glued in and the aluminum trim was stuck on with clear silicone. Do I need to find some clips before I glue the windows back in??? how should the trim and/or clips attach?

So somebody switched it from the crappy vinyl moulding ('82-'83) to the aluminum trim from the earlier ('78-'81)?

Yes, you'll need to get some clips if you don't want to glue the trim back on like the previous person did. I have some of the clips laying around, I'll grab one and take a pic next time I get a chance. There was a welded stud that the clips attached to from the factory, but a screw will be sufficient, especially now that your car has paint on it.

My Cutlass wagon has the crappy vinyl moulding, so I'll have to do the same thing when I paint it, since I robbed the trim off my '79 for it.

If nobody else has a picture of where the clips and studs go, I'll be out at my storage container this weekend and I can snap a picture for you.

Well, I looked in the garage, and it seems I did a pretty good job of hiding them from myself... :x
Either that, or I left them in the wagon...

I'll be out there Saturday, unless somebody else can chime in first.
