For street tires with raised white letters I’ve always used BF goodrich radial TA’s. They’re not the best performance tire but you can’t beat the looks except for perhaps the original Eagle GT’s that came on our cars. This is where many will chime in with their opinions of Cooper Cobra tires and the like...personally I think anything other than BF’s or Eagles make a G body look cheap - just my 2 cents.

The issue: The set that I have on my 442 continually requires cleaning because the letters turn yellowish. I’ve found that goo gone does a pretty decent job of cleaning them up but I can never get them to look like they used to with a crisp white color. The BF radials on my truck stay clean and are a bright white. Anyone share this issue and know why? I’ve read that BF Goodrich sold production of 15 inch tires to another company a few years back because of low volume sales. Thoughts?

Yes, I’ve tried all those other products. Goo gone still works the best. It’s not my brake pads nor the tire shine. The tires will yellow just from sitting in the garage unused. I’m guessing the new supplier is using a different process or materials. Maybe someone has purchased some new 15” BF tires recently that could comment?

I believe Michelin/Uniroyal/Goodrich sold the T/A radial line to Coker a while back......

It's the cheap release agent its soaked in deep its happens to white wall tires too you can keep cleaning them and it will come back, there's a little article about the switch in lowrider but theres not a go to for it yet to fix it. I use SoS pads for scrubbing white walls and lettering. I love the BFs for raised letter tires

I've seen many reviews on Summit Racing about this complaint as well as other sites. BF Goodrich was a few years back offering replacements but I do believe that has long stopped.
A good friend of mine has this problem with the BFG's on his 64 Galaxie and has resorted to yearly cleaning with red scotch brite pads or 600 grit sandpaper and Dawn dish soap to clean them. He gets good results but they never seem to have the bright white appearance of the older BF Goodrich tires. My Uniroyal Tiger Paw GTS's on the front of my 79 Monte Carlo (235-60's) seem to do the same but not as fast.

I had the same problem on my last set of T /A's. This time around I went with G -Force Comp 2 black walls on 17 inch US Mag rambler wheels on my 87 Monte Carlo SS.
