The wife keeps saying drop a LS1 into it. LMAO! totally threw me off guard when she spoke up with her two cents.....We just sold her Camero last year and she miss's her power house. I wouldn't even know were to start to try it.....I'm gonna keep researching, I have time.
Have any of you guys seen it done? A LS1 in a GBody?
Seems doable, but for some reason It seems like it would be a hard swap to pull off.

Joe I think that depends on the valve covers but regardless you can always cut the side of the box out by the hampster wheel move it in 1/2" and fiberglass it back on. Its a clean eazy cheap job that most people just don't think of. A lil black spray paint and you never notice it was done either. I have a wider taller Caddy block and the stock steering linkage and can remove my valve cover when needed. If you look up Vern I have pics linked that you can expand to full screen and see.

I know Its doable. I found some info on google on it. That just might be the way I go. If I can find at an affordable price. Preferably one needing a rebuild.

I'm in exactly the same boat as you. Are you in my mind. Haha. I want to do a bbc or ls1 swap. I'm leaning toward the ls1 swap but from my research it seems very expensive, up toward the 7g range with the way I want to do it. Most of the price is in the motor. On ebay they look like they range about 3g. Check this site out though

www.brphotrods.com

With this company the swap really seems straight forward.

Thats the price you pay for power. Its acheivable for much less though. Ya gotta know people man, you'd be supprised how a few cases of beer droped off to you'r local motor shop will do if you ever need help. 8)

You'r right, that is a good link, nice find.

Well dang I need to know the people you know cuz I dont know anybody that has the ls1 sitting around. If they have it then they want too much for it.

Make a trip or contact Kirby's Auto Parts in Rosewood Ohio. They have thousands of cars out there ready for picking. They take in over 30 cars a day for pick or crush. You pull the part, and its your's for MUCH less. Just like any other salvage yard in the states. After my wife ran her camero dry on oil I was out there debating on replacing the motor or selling the car. They had three at the time.

What kind of cars do they normally have out there? Is it mainly newer or older cars?

Tons of everything, I stripped the two Cutlass's out there. They have a hand full of Monte's out there. Lots of everything

I'VE DONE BBCHEVY, AND LT1 SWAPS.. I HAVE BEEN THINKING OF AN LS1 SWAP. YOU CAN GET A 5.3 TRUCK MOTOR FOR AROUND 800-1200 COMPLETE FROM A JUNK YARD, THE MOUNTS AND OIL PAN ARE AVAILABLE FROM SEVERAL COMPANIES. YOU CAN RUN A CARB INTAKE KIT FROM GM. IT COMES WITH AN IGNITION BOX TO USE THE COIL ON PLUG IGNITION WITH NO COMPUTER TO KEEP COST DOWN. HOT ROD DID A DYNO TEST ON THE 5.3 WITH A CAM SWAP AND A CARB AND MADE 440 HP ON THE STOCK HEADS AND BOTTOM END. I ALSO SAW A FORD IN HOT ROD THAT HAD THE STOCK 5.3 LS MOTOR WITH A CAM AND A TURBO KIT RUNNING 10S. REALLY GETS YOU THINKING.
