It has the J heads....but my uncle's 442 motor has J as well. So the "F" is basically the better motor if you compare them stock to stock. But building them, they would have the same potential? Or the F motor would always be the better one?

So It's a 4 speed motor. But also weaker in stock form compared to older motors with only the F. But has same potential as any 455 motor?

Ya the 403 is in the car. But I have that 455 sitting in my garage. We thought it was a 442 motor and were thinking about putting it all together until we seen the "a". I was curious what the difference was and if the potential was the same regardless .... Just found out the rear main seal in the 403 is leaking, around 800 to fix...

The big issue is removing the old rope seal. If it is a fairly fresh motor it should come out. They should have installed a neoprene seal to begin with. There are 3 styles that fit the SBO. The Ford 292, AMC I6 and the AMC 360. I have used the first two with success.

The motor was rebuilt 25k miles ago when the previous owner had it. Just sucks. Car doesn't want me to stop fixing it

In My Opinion Oldsmobile Cars should have Oldsmobile Engines, A 455 is a Torque Monster and it will fit in a G Body. I Have 2 455s on the floor, and I will always buy one when the price is right. I know alot of guys are running Chevy Motors in Olds, Its just not my thing

No, only the BBO for the 460 seal.

Do the 455. Be different! (I remember when the 455 was THE thing to do without question. So why is this a question?)
