:popcorn: Hmmh, just sharing, I ran across these from Spectre today. I would have to spin these side tubes around slightly so I would have a little less overall drop [~ just some quick measuring, down 5" instead of 7.5" should work] and extend the tubes angled on forward after the bend to get the filters to the front corners but, getting the battery to the trunk, I think I can make this fit. I'm just running a low profile 14" round open element now sucking in hot air on top of the big block and [without going cowl hood which doesn't necessarily solve the problem] I would naturally love to get the intake up into some cool clean air.

That is definitely one of the turn offs for me running a BBO is the hood clearance. I assume you would run tubes through the engine department. As long as it doesn't neck down too much and become restrictive.

Use this and remove your highbeems and run the intake tubes to the highbeem openings.

That won't work on an 87/88 with the euro frontend as the headlights are all one piece. There won't be much clearance with the carb hat. My brother n law got one for his 68 camaro bbc and we had to modify the crap out of it to clear the hood.

This is the setup i have for my 87 cutlass, obviously efi instead of carb....but i got all my intercooler tubing and couplers from CX racing. Had enough pipe leftover to use on the camaro too!

Ah sorry didn't realize you have the Euro nose on it.
 
Disclaimer: this isn't my thread, figured I'd post some pics with a similar setup so the OP can see what he has to work with. Not alot of engine bay space on our cars with a big block stuffed in there.

Yeah, I know it's tight. I actually considered coming forward with the EFI mount on mine. It might route better but thought that would run into the hood for sure the way it drops from the engine centerline forward.

Might see if I can just buy the carb cover and plumb to the corners with 4" flex. Won't be as purdy though.

My 6.5" replacements for the 5.25s that are too small for these door panels [despite what the website says] arrived today. Those 5.25 Alpines I sent back barely caught enough of the speaker hole rim to even sit on it. Drilling holes that close to the edge of the hole would not be wise.
Now I actually have to do real work . . . :doh:

Just FYI for anyone that cares, it looks like the Gbodyparts lower door panels were actually made for JBL 6.5s. Though there is somewhat of a size standard involved, when you look at the spec particulars on different speaker brands/models, they are all slightly different. With the JBLs, no trimming of the hole required AND they include a really nice round metal flange in the kit with a backwards rolled edge to make it "really stiff" that fits perfectly on the back side to nicely hold and protect that otherwise just plastic speaker mount. I should have bothered the sit the speaker in their straight and then take the shot "straight on" at the speaker so you can see how well it fits. The grill comes right to the outside edge of the speaker mount protrusion on the panel.
I think it is safe to say that . . . I am pretty stoked!

That looks really nice, i think im going to bite the bullet and pick up some of those lower door panels. How does it look with the grill on the speakers , from the side does it protrude , or is it flush with the armrest?
