Yeah, well it is now. I should have taken pics when it had chunks of carpet pad stuck all over it to see the before and after? Glad I didn't have hardly any rust to deal with but I shouldn't given the car's history.

So, you think the Dynamat will adhere even to the spots that are still rough with stuck on carpet pad? Should I endeavor to at least get more of that off? Or, like you said, wipe her down and cover it?

Dynomat said to try a heat gun. Might soften it up a bit to scrape/chisel the worst off. Though it does not have to be perfect, they only feel secure when the surface is properly prepped and smooth, mat properly laid and rolled. Of course that is naturally what they are going to say but the heat gun should also help with all of that peach fuzz from the carpet pad too. Just more nonsense to deal with but might as well take my time and make sure it's right.

Yeah, like I was telling Hutch, I think the totality of freakin nonsense I have discovered on this car has gotten me to the boiling point.

There was a reason I ordered this in late '86, put it in a garage, and left it except for fair weather driving. I intended to put a real motor in it eventually and at least dreamed of making the ole girl turn and stop too.

When I get done I may post the entire list. It is quite LONG and most of it was intentional irresponsible nonsense.

Hell clear back before switching to the big block, I started to tear down the 307 and there was a M8 nut in the lifter bay. Since there wasn't anything M8 on the motor, you know that was someone just being an irresponsible *ss . . . here, I'll put in the secret go fast ingredient!

Whether it is Bondo or glue, there is no functional reason for this to even be on the floor pan other than someone again just being an *ss.
 
Better? All 4". Will actually be adding about 4" of the long pipes to each side of the plenum and the 30 degree bends at the end will go down over the fender curvature into the filters, not out, but this shows the general layout. Already cut up my front corner boxes and actually have enough plastic to reform them for the new filter positions. And, about $90 more money, but a more worthy look for a show quality car, me thinks. Now, to actually do something.
