Currently my motor is a 388 ci stroker. Lower end is all good with forged components and the pistons are keith Black forged as well making 10 to 1 compression. I have the Dart Pro-1 aluminum heads , 200 cc 2.02 valves. I have an eddy performer rpm cam (234/244 duration 488/510 lift) and a performer rpm air gap intake....MY motor was dynoed at 514 hp at 6800 rom's and 470 Ft Tq at 4000 rpm, it might be a "happy " dyno number though...My best run was a 12.47 @ 109 mph. I want to get into the 11's and I think I'm in need of a cam and possible intake upgrade to help get me there..Any suggestions for what cam? I also have a 700r4 transmission with ptc 3200 converter and 4/10 gears.

Do you think that the 3.06 1st gear shift to the 1.62 2nd gear might be affecting your time?

i have basically the same set up in my gp (383, dart pro 1's, 700r4, 4.10's) except have edelbrock injection and a roller comp cam i believe it is 540/560 lift. I just installed the Pypes exhaust kit with the X, unblievable the difference it made.

No I don't think makes a bit of difference...Hell the car sped up when I switched from the th400 to the 700r4..

Well with my 383 i had a comp cam flat tappit 534/555 254duration with a 110 ls
Victor jr in take
Holley 750
Dart iron eagle 215 old design your heads should flow better
10.5 comp
That motor went 11.80's all day@ 110-12 mph
If you go roller that will also help

Yout trans and stall should be fine.

I have a buddy with a cutlAss has a 355 10;1 motor with a comp 292h 501/501 lift cam, victor intake 700r4 trans with a 3000 stall,4.10 gear heads are ik185 his car has went 12.00@ 112.

While your cars cam might look like A problem have you done some tweaking yet.took me almost a 2yrs to get the same motor to go from running 12.4 to 11's. I believe your motor in its current state is capable of high 11's.

the cam you are running is outdated, it was good in its day, but now they have the same lift and different lobe sep. you can a much better cam with the same lift, check out lunati voodoo cams, there are wicked and you can also grab a firing order swap cam, get that dated cam out and slide in a new stick, you will feel the difference instantly, just my thoughts, nice car by the way

Joe, my GP is kissing 13.0 with 30 less cubes and a highway 3.42 gear, and hard slicks.

I think your setup is well matched right now and you just need to play with it a little more. I think there's a low 12 in there. Before you invest money, borrow a 850 carb, some slicks, and work on the tune.

Your cam doesn't have as high duration as mine, 234 vs 236... so dial the timing back to 34-35 to pick up on topend. And bump up the secondary jets a couple numbers.

If you're really set on a cam, may I suggest going solid? Being a solid, you can run big duration and still have good throttle response off the line. A Victor Jr intake will greatly help too... there are cheap knockoffs like my Hurricain intake.

I second that. I think your combo is capable of an 11. Timing & jetting adjustments & suspension tweaks. Good records and one change at a time. Its tedious and takes lots of test n tunes at ye ole track. If you go to more cam and a single plane it won't be as nice to drive or take the family to a car show in. An easier quicker cheaper route for track or race occasions would be a 100 HP shot.

A 850 might be over kill for his set-up. I just know when i built my motor i had a contact number at comp cams for a guy and the cam i have is the smallest he recommended (sorry i do not have the full specs at work can update when i get home).

an 850 is overkill yes for regular driving... But it will really help those big cubes breath at 6800rpm. With the right jetting, he can gain some numbers at the track.
