Car has running issues

Does your car still have the 'catalyst' decal under the hood? Doesn't it have a vacuum diagram? If you don't already have one, the factory service manual is well worth buying. I've seen them for as little as $12.

It looks like that shop manual might not be easy to find. Don't waste your time with a Haynes manual or even a Chilton. Another source of information I like to use is www.alldatadiy.com

You pay for online access to factory service manual information. My car was a diesel so I bought the online manual for the diesel wiring diagrams and was not disappointed.

Wow I have looked right past that sticker not even looking at it. I feel like posting this would be helpful to others in the future:

It appears my vacuum lines are hooked up incorrectly. I have one question tho. Are the efe and egr 'solenoids' the little plastic piecessation next to each other attached to valve cover? Just wanted to be sure I know what I'm looking at.

According to the RockAuto website, this is what the EFE/EGR solenoid looks like....

Good one! I never paid any mind to it...guess my brain wrote if off as a "Don't Put Hands Near Fan" kinda thing. Welp it's nice to know what direction to move in.

So I am glad to say that once I had everything hooked up properly the car is running great. I still have two questions though. The vacuum diagram shows nothing between the egr solenoid and the egr itself. My car had this one way valve installed in between, but I left it off for now because it's not shown in the diagram.

It's some kind of one way valve, but it looks like the side with DIST is to go to a vacuum distributor which my car doesn't have and the other side obviously says carb. What is this for? I am not sure if its even for my car or not, didn't see a part number.

My other question involves the bowl vent valve. I replaced the whole hose here with new fuel hose since fuel vapor is what comes out. The old hose was the worst hose on the car by far, I believe the hose that was there was not fuel safe. When I took the valve off the old hose, I noticed that it is a spring loaded valve and I couldn't get any air flow either direction even trying with my hardest breath. I used an allen wrench to actuate the valve, which didn't seem stuck, and then airflow could happen. Why is this valve spring loaded (so much) ? If it's a vent valve wouldn't a simple one way valve be better? I just don't understand how this is supposed to work as a vent if it requires so much pressure to open.

I forgot to also include a picture of...you tell me what this is. I'm assuming its a cruise control apparatus? IF it is, does anyone have their cruise control working? Anyone a diagram of the cruise control system so I can see what's involved, could be a nice feature.
