MONTE CARLO "COPO" Monte Carlo SS - Turbosaurus Build (Swinging Dick Racing's c*ck got bent... she bounced a little too high & hard, & came down awkwardly)

My brother showed up today with a pair of gutted doors of our buddy's NMCA race car. Even down a few pounds these are still going to suck to install by myself (plus I need to mirror swap them too). Because race car?

Where did I leave my cherry picker...?

Ran State-side for parts and came back with a trunk full of fun including 17x9 GTA reps (might put these on the wagon), gasket kit, some turbo stuff, etc.

Are those the ones from G-body parts?

Have you ever thought about switching to decaf? No, but seriously, I wish I lived next to you just so I could take advantage of your "idle time".

Press on, soldier!

Best - Gary

Thanks, Gary! Natasha figures that I will die if I stop moving. I wish farting around with this Monte Carlo and the wagon were the biggest automotive distractions I had on the go at the moment - but, then there is this little gem: https://ls1tech.com/forums/automatic-transmission/1882228-4l70e-build-tbss.html

Does any of your chain of command know about your sickness? Are you assigned to the quartermaster corps, or perhaps a transportation unit where they need to determine failure modes for their hardware? Meanwhile, oh, never mind. It wouldn't be right for me to get into your relationship with your family. I was really impressed when I read your build thread for your GTO wagon, but my God, man, you need help.

Warmest personal regards, Gary

You mean my "gambling problem"? Yeah, she knows and is planning the intervention.

Did a couple of little things today - thanks rain, thanks. The most notable one was I pulled the rear speakers out... they were cute little Pioneer 4x6s; since I am junking the stereo for weight savings (because smartphones killed the radio star...) and we're just going with a simple USB power source. I'll grab the wiring once the interior comes out for the mini-tub.

Oh, and I tossed in a premium trunk liner kit for giggles. Easy to pull back out to save the pounds.

Did a thing today. Took some time to install the UMI LCA relocation brackets on the 8.5". I made a mock control arm to ensure that the arm sweep was accurate - it also helped to triangulate the brackets. That being said UMI failed horribly in their design. The hole which bolts to the stock ears is way too large, it measures out to about 1/2" when it needs to be 10mm - what this does is introduces a lot of slop into locating the brackets making accurate alignment damn near impossible. What I did to overcome this was cut some bushings that made up the difference and helped centre everything up. I was not impressed. Set the pinion angle to 0*, set the LCA brackets to 0*, tack, weld, repeat, paint, done.
