MONTE CARLO "COPO" Monte Carlo SS - Turbosaurus Build (Swinging Dick Racing's c*ck got bent... she bounced a little too high & hard, & came down awkwardly)

I am pretty sure I have been a horrific human being. Wiring. Always wiring. Wiring hell.

I made a point of grouping and routing the wires to eliminate the factory bowl of spaghetti. I have a healthy fear of colour now. But this is the basic layout now - used some more aluminum P-clamps for lightness!

EDIT: Oh... I also did some rework of the foam for the HVAC box... it was... ummm... gross.

The wiring looks nice and organized. Good for my OCD.

Did the final test fit and tape job on the interior harness. Tied it back and soaked the rusty bits down in POR-15 Metal Prep. Once that's dry I'll paint it.

In the meantime I scrubbed down a very disgusting dash pad (FU very much smokers) with baby wipes and brake cleaner. Then did some test sections for colour and to see if the maroon would bleed through the grey. It didn't.

But, the colour didn't match the cap on the can either so... well... I guess all my cars are destined to have black dashes.

Those tall Timmy's cans sure are handy.

Tossed down a little floor pan in a can:

Then I added a hinge to the console lid (I believe it came from a from a Buick Regal):

Beats the floppy lid that rotated on the sprung hinge. Only took me 20 years to address it

I also spent some time repairing and reinforcing the gauge cluster housing. I'll post pics in a bit after I clean more smoker scum off it. Then I can dye them and pop it all back together.

First let me start by saying: Hellcat owners can suck a salty sawsseeege!

Here are the "repairs" to the damaged gauge box thingy:

I used the same plastic epoxy that is holding the wagon's intake manifold together. Yeah, I left the scars because I plan on putting a phone mount there eventually. Whenever I feel like it.

Popped the dash in, mounted the shifter, stuffed some rivnuts in for the console, cleaned up the tilt column and stock SS steering wheel.

The rest of the interior plastics are currently drying from the dye job - plan to pop those together and into the car tomorrow.

I ordered some clean and strip wheels yesterday, which are due to arrive shortly - so in order to do any decent bodywork I needed to break the trim down. But, before I could do that I had to pull out the sagging degrading headliner. Which I managed to get out in "one piece" other than where the visors mount... more impressive was I didn't need to remove the front and rear window trim. No broken clips!

That was the most disgusting thing I'd done in a long while. Little bits of sh*t raining down. Dry greasy sticky sh*t. I want to set that thing on fire. Natasha tried to convince me to buy a replacement - best enabler an addict could have. I am going to leave it out for now.

The next gross bound was pulling out pounds of sound deadening and insulation. I've been walking garbage bags of this crap out over the last few weeks. More lightness, less stinky.

After that I got to pulling the trim off the drip rails. That sucked too. Mostly trying to soften the adhesive on the weather stripping to salvage it with a heat gun to expose all of the hidden screws. My fingers hate me now. But I got it off with little damage. Then I popped out the quarter windows which also got all goopy and gross.

Guess I have more work to do... like popping the interior back in. LOL.

This is the sexiest thing I've seen all day, please don't tell my wife.
