Welcome to my hell.

You aren't the monkey looking at the body work thinking of throwing sh*t at it and seeing what sticks. You're a trained ape. This is not my forte - I am going to be the chimp using newspaper and white masking tape I found in the junk drawer to bugger this thing together. I may or may not paint it in my driveway.

At least I had the sense to confirm that I can use epoxy primer over lacquer...

Meh, we all gotta start somewhere, and you only have to please numero uno. If it’s good enough for you then that’s all that matters.

One colour is enough for now. Truth is I can lay paint down okay... its the prep that is daunting. And I've been squirreling parts and supplies away to do this for awhile. Then my air compressor died - so back to squirreling I go.

So I started shopping online for some seam sealer, and next thing I know I have a couple of quarts of epoxy primer and black paint on the way from Eastwood. How does a $7 tube of seam sealer turn into a $250 paint order? Damn you free shipping to Canada... damn you!!!

Also you guys are going to be so disappointed if you think this is going to be a nice spray job. LOL. Gonna be functional at best - assuming it doesn't fly off with the pressure washer.
Free shipping to Canuckistan you say!?!? 😍

I feel this pain in my heart right now.

Who likes irony? I don't. So that drawing above only half works in my application... because aftermarket shifter. Consequently I decided to over-engineer a solution and make some improvements.

That is all 16 gauge. At least it won't shift around. After I confirm the location for everything it'll get burned in. Better remember to cut a hole for the shifter cable...

I am not looking forward to grinding off all the paint so I can weld to the floor... again.

Welded in and test farted. There is a most familiar butt groove in that seat. Overall it looks and feels right which is a huge win.

The shifter sits about 1/2" higher than when I buggered it in the last time it was in a car; but, it is much more solid. I still need to add some rivnuts to the back under the storage compartment.

So happy to have the 30 year-old garbage bags and recycled hippy clothes off the firewall. Ditched the radio antenna lead too. Now to remove 30 years of dust and farts from the plastics. Going to do the same thing I did to the wagon and move the wiring harness to the firewall from the dash - makes pulling the dash again a breeze.
