It looks very nice. Does your hood flex when you open/close it? I had done something similar to a 79 Malibu in the past and the hood became very "soft"...

Thanks, and not that I notice. I will probably weld the bracing back to the hood tho, just so it looks better.

Looks good,
When you taking it to the track?
Thanks. I can't wait to get to the track myself, but I still have to finish the exhaust, speed sensor, and tune a little more. Hopefully the rest of the mandrel bends come in this week, so I can start welding it to the downpipe and get it connected to the Borla xr-1 muffler. I can't finish tuning until I get the exhaust complete. I think the wb o2 is getting false readings because it is close to the open end of the downpipe. And for some reason I can't get TunerPro RT to recognize the speed sensor. I wired it to the b9/b10 terminals, but not getting a signal to the ecm. When I originally got the wiring harness, ecm, and tpi there was no connector/wires coming off the ecm b9, b10, and b11 terminals for speed sensor hookup or VATS. Wondering if it's a bad ecm or tampered ecm? I will probably go to the junkyard and look for a replacement this weekend and see if anythings different.

Finished the exhaust today. Surprisingly "quiet." Was expecting it to be a little louder, but I guess the turbo and straight thru design tames the sound. Guess the neighbors will like it. 😀

Very nice. how ig is the downpipe/exhausr? I have a weird question, do you remember the length of you positive battery to starter cable? I plan on relocating my battery to the drivers side of my Malibu.

Thanks. The downpipe/exhaust is 3.5". Don't remember the length of the positive battery cable. My battery came factory on the driver's side. Might have to relocate the battery to the trunk when I put on the intercooler tho. There isn't much space under the hood anymore. 😀

Now I have to tackle the tuning and an exhaust leak on the passenger side where the header meets the block. Anyone know of a good thick header gasket set? I'm using a set of Percy Seal 4 Good gaskets and they ain't doing nothing for me. Don't know if it's because the header is upside down or what. :blam:

Upside down shouldn't matter. What are your gaskets made of? Copper? If not try copper gaskets and locking header bolts.

They are made of a soft aluminum. Don't think locking bolts will work on these headers. At least not without denting every primary. I could barely get a wrench over some of the bolt heads. Maybe I will try the copper gaskets.

My sanderson headers look exactyl like yours, forget if you mentioned brands. But sandersons say not to run gaskets just a bead of RTV around each port.
