Was a bad fuel pressure regulator diaphragm.

That'll do it. Same thing happened to me last year but it stayed running (sort of). A lake of fuel was found in the upper plenum while disassembling the intake. Not good.

Same exact thing. Fuel was spewing into the vacuum port, right into the intake. It took me forever to figure out where the gas was getting into the cylinders so fast. But I got it.

Re: TPI IN 86 CUTTY

Put on my Lokar throttle cable(had to cut off 2.5") and got her started today. Was idling a little rough, so I checked the fuel psi and it was around 100psi. I cut her off and took the return AN line off the hard 5/16 line and put it in a gas can, then started her back up and she purred like a kitten, with the psi around 37psi. Guess I have to run my own 5/16 line along with the 3/8 feed. I think the factory 5/16 has too many bends or something cause it was pushing my fuel psi way up. Hopefully this weekend I can get it done.

Also need to either change the clutches on the two diff ac condensors or remove the hose from the old one and put it on the new one. Hope I can change the clutches cause my ac blew cold.

Next will be hooking the lockup for the trans. Doin research now, but any info will be appreciated.

Re: TPI IN 86 CUTTY

wow 2 ac compressors ur ac is going to be double cold lol j.k everything looks good did u fiz the fuel pressure

Re: TPI IN 86 CUTTY

Yup. The problem was that the factory 5/16 line had to many bends(it had 5 90s in it). I ran my own return line down the passenger side, along with the 3/8 and 1/4 lines and everything was good to go. Now just waitin for my Lokar kickdown cable to come from Summit. Should be here 2morrow. Let yall now how that goes. Heard its not too bad. 🙂

Re: TPI IN 86 CUTTY

Kickdown cable came in and went in with no problems. Had to cut 1.5" off the outer cable and it went in easily. Didn't even have to take the crossmember down and lower the trans, like I read. Might have made it a little easier, but definitely not needed to install.

Next steps are the exhaust, lockup(really not needed cause it wasn't working anyway and it still drove with no problems), and wire-pretty-up.

Re: TPI IN 86 CUTTY

Found out today that my alternator wasn't wired up right and it wasn't charging the battery. The new alternator that I bought had 3 wires to it. A thick red, thin brown, and thin black. I supplied voltage to the thick red with my alternator connector from my power harness and just capped off the brown and black. Wasn't charging, just kept draining the battery. Upon further investigation the brown wire needs to go with the alternator wire from the power harness, the thick red one goes with the batt terminal post on the back of the alt, and I grounded the black wire. With this configuration, it started charging the battery, but the "charge" light is lit now. I think I need to unground the black wire and just cap it off. We'll see 2morrow.

Re: TPI IN 86 CUTTY

Got exhaust done 2day and got to drive the car. Scared me at first cause the engine bay started smokin once the engine warmed up. The coating on the headers was burning off. 😱 Drives pretty good compared to the 307. Definitely more power. Not a bad swap, but don't think that I will do it again. Costs are crazy and time and internet fishing skills are a must. You guys helped alot and don't think I could have done it without yall. Thanx. Next up for it will have to be a rear diff, cause the stock gearing in the rear is weak. I want that good launch.

Well I still need to tidy up the wires, but I think this is the end for this thread. Unless something unexpecting happens. 😀
