no, i actually have the same pump, just make sure that you have an adjustable fuel pressure regulator.

Could that be the problem? I didn't install a fuel regulator because I thought the one on the fuel rail would be good enough. Does the Walbro put out to much pressure for the stock regulator?

actually my mistake you should be fine the thing that would got bad is the diagphram which is inside, but i would say its a injector problem.

Ok. So how do you check your injectors? I looked on Autozone.com and they are $45 a piece.

Yeah, its a mechanical fuel pump. Got the lights from ebay for like $45 or so. Thought about buying headers, but nobody, including myself, wanted to install them for a reasonable price.

check resistance on the injectors with an ohm meter, the one with the most variance would indicate a bad injector.

Ok. Good, I can check them while they are still in the car. Just checked my return line also. It might have got smooshed when I put the tank back up. I fixed it, but I still want to check the resistance on the injectors b4 I start it up again.

All measured in at 16.3 ohms...no variances.

I let it sit overnite and tried to start her up again and still nothing, so I pulled the plugs again and there was a little more gas in the cylinders and coming out the headers again. Also, it is hard to turn the crank, even with the plugs out. By hand I can turn it over(a little tight, but still I can get it), but with the starter it only moves about a quarter or so. I know it shouldn't be that tight, with the plugs out.

What is going on? Bout ready to take the intake and tpi off and put on a carb. 🙁

Re: TPI IN 86 CUTTY

Smelt dipstick and found gas in oil. Just drained oil and gas. It must've been at least a 1/4 tank of gas that got wasted. That's prob why it was hard to turn the motor over. Gonna put new filter and oil treatment in 2morrow. So, if it ran at initial start up, for 30 sec or so, then it has to be either a bad regulator or injector o-rings. Any takes? Let ya know how it turns out. Damn...some project.

Hey Clutch, did you use the smog pump eliminator? I bought the Summit item #NAL-10129569 and it didn't come with the groves for the serp belt. If I use this will the belt slip off? or did I get the wrong part?

Nevermind, I see that I need to get a new belt and new routing.[/quote]

nice nice

Re: TPI IN 86 CUTTY

Injectors were good. Was a bad fuel pressure regulator diaphragm. Put a new one on and notice the ignition coil went bad, so I bought an MSD coil from AutoZone today. Gonna try again tomorrow. 8)
