Re: TPI IN 86 CUTTY

Want to put my GN tank in, but want to know if the mechanical fuel pump will pull fuel pass the in-tank pump for now? Just until I get the engine in, so I don't have to put a regulator on it.

Re: TPI IN 86 CUTTY

Yes it should. It worked on my Caprice that had the tbi 4.3 when i put my 383 in it.

Re: TPI IN 86 CUTTY

Wusup guys? Need your help. I finally got the engine in and the computer hooked up. I tried firing it up today and it ran for about 30 sec or so then cut off. I tried cranking again, but she didn't want to turn over. Looked under the car and one of my hard line=to-AN hose fittings was leaking gas. I tightened it up, then tried cranking again, it still didn't want to turn over. So I went under it and tried turning it over by hand, but it was tight as hell. Took 1 plug out and a cup of gas came pouring out the cylinder. Decided to take all the plugs out and it looked like a 1/4 tank of gas came pouring out the cylinders as I turned the crank by hand. What could cause this? The fuel rail has an internal regulator and the comp is getting power. What is the readings on the injectors supposed to be, to see that they're getting a signal? Help please, I'm stumped. :wtf:

Re: TPI IN 86 CUTTY

you have a leaking fuel injector/injectors , its called hydro locking thats why it wouldn't turn over. Ran into the same problem on my now completed TPI swap on my regal. I had to change them.

Makes sense. My brother mentioned something like that. So the high flow Walbro pump shouldn't have anything to do with it?

Should I have any voltage on my injectors in "on" ignition?

Would replacing the o-rings fix this or do I have to buy new injectors...this was supposed to be a budget build?

Re: TPI IN 86 CUTTY

no, i actually have the same pump, just make sure that you have an adjustable fuel pressure regulator. There should be no power at the injectors because the injector use a pulsating refrence from ecm, so they only turn on when cracking or at idle. As far as the actual injectors it would be best to replace them because they are stuck oppen so the actual internal parts are no good.

Could that be the problem? I didn't install a fuel regulator because I thought the one on the fuel rail would be good enough. Does the Walbro put out to much pressure for the stock regulator?
