So when the day comes that I frame swap my Monte, it looks like I should have myself a good ol' time figuring out where the mounts go.
My Holley kit showed the correct mounting position. Pretty simple.

Been looking at wheels and tires a lot lately. Got this mid mount serpentine kit instead from CVF Racing.

Hopefully it holds up alright. Hate to rain on the parade, but I've seen some issues with the CVF stuff. For the money it should wipe your tail, but guys are having issues with the pulleys messing up.
You coulda got ICT stuff, or even genuine GM setups for less moola and super reliable.

Cleaned and painted the cross member and clamshells. Got new bolts and nuts. Took twice as long to clean and paint than it did to reinstall them.View attachment 142030View attachment 142036
Not sure if you explained this a few pages back, but when you put the new mounts on, you shifted them forward. Compare the two photos. The lower inside corner of the mount should hang over the frame, that's why they only got three bolts. You might consider inverting the bolts so the stickout is inside the frame - harder to execute, but removes interferences when routing wires and fuel lines.

I haven't seen the pulleys as a common problem. I will keep an eye on that though. If it turns out to be crap I'll send it back. CVF has a lifetime warranty on all parts except hardware and belts.

I did consider inverting the bolts. I probably will. Cleaner look too.

Replaced the front shocks, inner & outer wheel bearings and the brake pads. It was all original parts with 43K on them. Brakes and shocks were shot. The bearings didn't look bad but they were loose. I guess that makes them shot too. Hubs were much tighter with new bearings. Almost like new. Going to have to replace some steering components. Seeing some dry rot.

Got the CVF kit today. I am simultaneously impressed and perplexed. All of the kit is very nice. Casting, paint, powder coat is very nice. Should be a painless install. Then there is the water pump. Must have been a Friday end of shift job. Casting burrs everywhere. Paint is amateurish and a lot of scratches. Air compressor, power steering pump and 160 amp 1 wire alt are all GM parts. PS unit is chrome (nice finish) with a black billetremote resevoir. All of the pulleys and tensioners are well made with a nice finish. The CVF Black Diamond finish is nice.

I called CVF Racing about the poor quality of the water pump. No problem. Sending a new one right out.
