You've never smelled gear oil before? New shjt ain't much better. Yours was definitely in need of changing.
This may or may not surprise you but this is the 1st car I've ever cared enough about to bother changing gear oil. Most of my adult life I've either had beaters or new vehicles.

Worked on the MCSS some today. Removed the Holley RED fuel pump. Interestingly the mounting bolts and grounding bolt holes are threaded through the frame, no nuts. The Holley is a vertical pump and my new one is horizontal so I will have to adapt a little to put the new pump in. Not foreseeing any major issues. Removed the engine mounts. The 1st bolt really sucked but it got easier as I went. I had to crawl my old, overweight, not flexible arthritic body into the engine transmission hole to get them out. Gonna be very sore tomorrow.

Cleaned and painted the cross member and clamshells. Got new bolts and nuts. Took twice as long to clean and paint than it did to reinstall them.
