Does the rod move at all with the lever?

I went back and looked. They were from ebay 10 bulbs with 10 sockets for less than $10. They look like a normal bulb, not the style with tiny led packs in all directions.

here's the way the high beam rod is installed

Nope not at all. The rod doesn't move and there is no resistance at all on the lever like there would be if the rod was connected

awesome picture. Yeah it looks like I would definitely have to tear the column apart in order to hook the rod back up. I hardly drive the car so not much need for my hi beams I think I'm just going to leave it the way it is.

the rod will not fall out of place, it could be the black part that the rod sits on is broken

The lever must have broken somehow then. I had a mechanic put in a new turn signal switch and tighten up the column because the whole column wiggled up and down. He must have broken the lever somehow or how the lever connects to the rod.

you can always put a toggle switch the dash in to replace the high beam switch

Or he didn't put it back together right? I would look for him to make good on it, if it were me.
