i rebuild mine a couple years ago. had them powder coated still good as new
Doug,Not to argue but I'd bet Eastwood 's will last decades longer, mines 35 years old bought from MAC tools.
When we rebuilt the hinges for my brother's 78 Z28 I bought a spring compressor made by Steck from a local O'Reilly's. If you guys don't have any of their tools, Steck is top notch. It will outlast me for sure.Doug,
You might be right in that respect, but how many times will we actually get to use the tool. Sometimes you have to ask yourself that question. Even a shitty Harbor Freight tool might be sufficient enough for ones purpose.
Good point about how many times a tool will be used. I always consider that when planning a new tool. For under $20.00 I'm going to rebuild my hinges first, if I don't like the results then I'll go for new. Back in the late 80s I was working on an 82 Regal coupe, the drivers door was hanging so bad and for so long that new factory hinges couldn't make it operate perfectly. I figured the front of the door was bent where the hinges bolt up, but my a hole boss then wouldn't allow me to fix it any better.Doug,
